I got the same shop to work on my drive shaft maybe 3 or so years ago...I remember paying ~$300. Reason behind this was that my carrier bearing was going out and it would've been cheaper to convert it from 2 piece to 1 piece. They just wanted a measurement from flange to flange.

I'm not sure if he can order them or not. If you message him on instagram he responds very quickly.

Do my own as well. I'm sure there are places here that do good work, but I would end up checking my lugs for proper torque anyway...too many bad experiences have me jaded I suppose.

I didn't know we had our own section here on TW. Quick question, do you guys often recovery gear often at Ka'ena Point? I would like to go solo but I'm pretty much stock with wheels and suspension, what are your guys' 2 cents.

I'm in the market for a second gen double cab 4x4 on Oahu. 06 to 10 is what I think I can afford. If anyone knows of someone looking to sell please DM or reply. Small kine fix up all the way to full frame swap is OK if the price is right.

Just picked up a 2003 with a 1st gen TRD supercharger (gray). The nose cone needs to be rebuilt, any suggestions on where to take the cone? It needs new shaft bearings pressed in.

Perfect. So. I have 2 vehicles. I’m hearing rumors that HI is a massssiiivveee pain in the dick when it comes to getting registration down there. Can I just keep my Texas ones on or will they pop me for being the wrong state?

    lowered f150 and lifted 4R

The issue that will make it a pain in the ass for you is recon, which only exists on Oahu over here. You would need that extra step for both of your vehicles. Recon could potentially go away as early as this summer, but I'm not holding my breath. As far as running your Texas plates, you can keep your registration and plates for Texas and get the big blue sticker (Hawaii reg for out of state plates), or you can convert to Hawaii plates. Either one will require safety inspection. On top of the safety inspection, you will have to do recon because you modified your suspension from stock. Hell, even if recon does go away, I'd imagine some parts of it will carry over to the safety check anyway (tires not sticking out, number of aux lights, etc.).

    Some light reading: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/hawaii-recon-information-q-a-thread.99156/

Yo. Why are y’all so strict for being on a island. I see so many lifted 4R and tacos with the huge lifts and wide tires... didn’t expect this lol

There's no "y'all" about it! It's not like the average joe citizen over here agrees with recon, and doesn't collectively wish it would go away. It's just the man keeping us down! :D

Also, enforcement of the law varies widely. You're right, there are tons of modified vehicles over here; some have recon some don't. You take your chances I suppose...
