It was a brass brake union and I tried to get it as tight as I could to prevent leaks. Hard to tell how much tightening is going on at arms length upside down in an awkward spot though.

Another thing was I installed it when I did the accumulator delete then pulled it all off along with the slave cylinder for the Clutchmaster fiasco. The side that cracked never leaked and wasn't touched from the moment I first installed that union. It could have gotten damaged sitting in my junk pile for a year but I don't think so.

The 125A fuse was installed when I did the battery relocate and is near the alternator with a breaker at the battery. Extra safety for my wiring. I believe there's a stock fuseable link somewhere that may do the same job but I'm sure it's a pain in the ass to replace.

I think the starting in gear spiked it and possibly my fuse was rated a little low for the surge.

Thank you very much fellow Canadian! You're a much rarer breed than the average Canadian living up in the territories (mostly been a BC/Alberta boy, never been up in the territories). You got the right truck for it.

Modding becomes both an addiction and a can of worms. Like home Reno's one thing often leads to another.

Welcome to TW! Did you just get a truck? Nice to see someone from way up there, I’ve been there to visit a few times, and really enjoyed it. Yellowknife to be specific, which community are you from?

Like @TodayWasTHeDaY said, you have the right truck for Canadaland.

Damn you rolled your truck, just noticed your avatar. What happened if you don't mind my asking?

I rolled a 98 4runner I had about a decade ago. Black ice on highway, lost control into other lane and I had just about dusted off all my speed and saved it but ended up hitting the snow in the shoulder and it sucked me in, followed by rolling three times down an embankment. Was scary but probably about the softest rollover possible due to the snow. Had a family friend do a bunch of bodywork but nothing major was wrong with it and I drove it for a few years after with no issues.

Yea well you can probably guess I'm going through supercharger builds becaue forced induciton is just going to have to happen hopefully sooner than later.... and totally know how mods go, I used to have a Mk III Supra that my dad and I worked on but we sent it to a better home ...... want to make the truck into something now .... my wallet is already cringing

    Nice!

You've checked the bible thread for the magnusson/TRD supercharger? All the important info is condensed on the first page.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/trd-magnuson-4-0-supercharger-tips-tricks-and-mods.518932/

There's also the procharger available as another option.

Aw yea lol..... no actually I didn't roll the truck, I found that image on a news website and it was the same color as mine, so I'mm ust being a bit of a poser there...... but it's a bit of a throwback to when I did roll the truck I had back in 2013, my dad and me were leaving Yellowknife and a buffalo crossed the highway and hit us from the side, like he hit us somehow not the other way around..... so just me inexperience I couldn't control it and freaked out abit, next thing I knew we were in the ditch. We were both fine ultimately, a little bruised but yea the truck was a F150 not a Toyota so it didn't survive

Man you got a crazy rollover story in the 4runner, good for you not getting too hurt, every once in a while you heear a crazy Toyota truck story like that...... you crash it and it still drives for another few yearslol

I think getting side rammed by a Buffalo is crazier than my story lol.

Check out @Athlaos and @BassAckwards (he has two trucks, a 4 banger and a v6) builds if you haven't already. All crazy builds

man yea, sorry I almost missed your message there..... I got the truck last October and the idea of doing more and more to it keeps growing in my mind, so then searching SC stuff I figured why the hek not get on tacomaworld......

Glad you came to enjoy this fine territory, did you freeze your ass? Lol I’m from cassidy point which you probably know is basically being from Yellowknife although feels more isolated which I like

Dude wow, that TRD SC thread has so much info, you guys been at this for a while....... glad it’s all in once place, I’ll have to do a more careful read through later today. I seen the Magnuson blower online, think URD’s website was where I saw it, I take it that’s the exact same as the TRD supercharger......

Looked at URD’s kits as well although it’s not really clear what the dyno differences would be between the kits..... I’ve seen quite a few good build threads but no on really seems to have dynos posted

Lol funny you mention @BassAckwards I already sent him a message on his 4cyl build because I discovered it while I was lurking around last night....... pretty sweet build....... and his v6 as well.....

And @Athlaos looks like your build is pretty well thought out. I’m not much for the street truck thing but man I’ll have to take some time reading through those mods and discussing prices for all these things... looking at all these builds I’m starting to feel like I don’t have nearly enough time or money but that’s only normal...... like they say you can’t build Rome in a day

Magnuson and TRD chargers are the same. Maggy made them for TRD.

I know the URD chargers are capable of a lot of power but as far as I know the rotrex compressors on them are prone to failures and pricey to replace.

Maggy/TRD gives a lot of low to mid end power and torque.

URD and procharger have more top end HP but will be slower off the line. Procharger is pretty new for our trucks so it may have more low end than I think.

Under further Crime Scene Investigation I got the new brass union in and attempted to install it yesterday. Until the side I hadn't touched since I deleted the accumulator (a year and a half ago) wouldn't thread in. Noticed that the threads were buggered meaning I must have cross threaded it so it was tight and leak free and on a slight angle. A few thousand clutch cycles later and the pressure cracked the little fucker.

Now I had to order the little clutch line to replace that section.

Just got this and I finally ordered a boost gauge so I'm excited to get that and the Aquamist gauge in the pillar. Have a studded ball clamp for the bullydog gauge that I'll probably run off the pillar as well.

It'll be really nice to clean up a bunch of the existing wiring and the gauges as well.

How are you liking the NST crank pulley? And do you recall if the stock damper has rubber in it on the 4.0? I have been considering doing this upgrade but wanted to get some feedback from someone running them who has gotten rid of the stock damper.

I likey. I've also got the NST SC pulley on and it definitely revs quicker.

I didn't recall seeing rubber on the stock damper but apparently it does have it. Haven't noticed any weird shakes or other drawbacks from the solid aluminum pulley.

For good luck I've now got this guy looking over me. Praise peeping tom jeebus
    PXL_20210423_195315901.jpg

Also been working on wiring, got my lotek pillar cleanly in place with the Aquamist and bulleydog gauges. The new boost gauge is waiting to be wired and I'm planning out the new wiring to replace at least three (out of five) fuse taps going to the cab fuse panel.

Non operational boost gauge. Was going to wait until finished for the big pic but it may be some time yet until I can get the dash apart and running wires.

Mostly finished the Bussman install. Have three gauges (afr, oil pressure and boost) powered from it and an ignition controlled relay to run the newly installed ZZP high output intercooler pump. So happy that it's wired better than the janky efi circuit setup. Still have some zip ties to fasten under dash wiring but the in cab fuse panel is way cleaner now.
