It's called a market economy lads. Supply vs demand. Demand is high, while supply remains finite. Chances are if you're complaining about price, you couldn't afford it in the first place.

The market is getting crazy for tons of stuff as it gets older. I have an old 95 civic I've been looking to do a engine swap in. Engines that used to be $1500 just a few years ago are now $4k and that's just for a motor.

I live in Cali, literally no one will buy it for that price. I bet his wife made him post it for sale.

:facepalm:I shoulda kept mine that I sold for about $7K in 2017 for just a little bit longer, just like my Westy VW bus I bought for $2800 an sold for $5000 back in the 90’s. It’s now worth over $50k today.:frusty:

He could probably get around $20k on BaT, but $25k is still a bit rich.

    https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2002-toyota-tacoma-sr5-4x4-13/ $21.5k @ 115k
    https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2003-toyota-tacoma-22/ - $19.5k @ 114k
    https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2003-toyota-tacoma-28/ - $18.1k @ 58k.
    https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2002-toyota-tundra-3/ - Tundra for $20k @ 102k.

Trucks under 100k miles command a big premium, take a look at the trend line in prices:

I sold my clean rustless Californian 2002 for about $7k with 275k miles, even had it here for awhile but nobody wanted it then. It was a great truck, but I was worried about its mileage as I used to use it a lot offroad in the desert in summer for work, and also got a trailer and wanted a higher payload. It was my favorite Taco of all time and still keep it on my avatar until my 3rd gen proves itself worthy of replacing it. I am still sorry I had to sell it. :pout:

All I can say is is sure to check the frame if yours is from the snowbelt.

    Exactly. The mania may pass.

But if the mania continues, you may be kicking yourself in the rear end thinking about what could've/should've been.

    High? Yes!
But then say you pay $20k>$25k for a truck like those with less than 100,000 miles. Drive it for another 200,000>250,000 miles over 15>20 years and you have definitely got your money out of it and them some.

Time will kill them as much as mileage. The paint was never 'Mercedes Quality' on these things and my interior is starting to turn ashey/chalkey now. Seats fabric rots in the sun too. Glad I payed so little 15 yrs. ago. Well, 2007 anyway.
I will say I can remember as muscle cars died across the country in the '80s, we always spoke of getting a Cal. car. It's past that now though. They've all been restored or needs it badly.

Not necessarily true. My '96 with 414,000 trouble-free miles on it. I thought the $17,200 I paid for it May 1996 was too much, however that was a bargain.

Yeah, that looks garage kept too. Mine sits outside, has less than 1/2 the mileage and looks like crap.

Even under the hood is getting baked. Also not driving let's more rust form as it doesn't 'sandblast' the bottom or dry rain moisture off afterwards. Point being, it's not mileage killing it. Let yours sit outside and not drive it, it'll die just as fast.

BTW: Nice truck, I know you've kept good care, don't blame you. I bought mine to park outside all day everyday in a harsh environment though. Def. shows.

As far as needing resto. I meant the muscle cars. There's not much desire to find "Clean CA. cars" now as opposed to another restored as even the Ca. cars have deteriorated.
