I can't take this year any days off due to increasing duties at work etc, so it's only local weekend trips for me. Plus I got to put my taco on 37s, 35s are the new 33s now. :sawzall::welder:

Heh there was a winnebago sitting on the point at tuk when i was there. Its not a bad road unless you have tires that can't handle the gravel.

I'll be the idiot coming from Rhode Island. Won't be happening this year - won't be able to take 2 weeks off in the summer, already did that in the spring. So, this is a potentially for next year on my end.

below is my response to from Yukon government.:) oh well next year

    Farook,

We have received your request for an alternate self-isolation plan. You note in your application that your expected travel are in August 2021. Unfortunately, we will not be able to accept your application this far in advance of your travel. I would suggest that you reapply in June more closer to your travel dates. I can tell you at this time, Yukon does not allow self-isolation to take place in campground.

I will be withdrawing your application,

    Thank you,

    Michelle

Well I guess I have to brush up on my geography. I thought Tuk was part of the Yukon.:) It's not its in North West Territories. Surprisingly received a call from the Government of Yukon this afternoon. transiting through the Yukon with in a 24 hour period you don't need anything, just go. If you have had your 2 doses of vaccine no self isolation needed either. NWT is another story though. this is from their website....

Are visitors allowed in the NWT?

To limit the spread of COVID-19, leisure travelers are not allowed to travel within the NWT.

    just a FYI...

I'm hoping we stay open for long enough to get a trip in. I'd love to attempt this in either December (I'm aware, I'm insane) (why did I think that was even close to a good idea) or early may - end of June.

You have fun with that o_O I know what I'm not prepared for with my truck and ..... it's the arctic circle in December

That said - there's a river crossing that might be open in the winters (ice bridge).

Actually. Might have been the trip Tuk to Barrows AK - I think there is a bridge crossing that cuts off like an entire day or day and half of travel but is not there (melted) in the summers.

What, you're saying my stock 3 season travel trailer heater wouldn't keep me warm?!? Impossible!

Jokes aside, April- June is when I want to go. I plan on building a camping setup inside a topper, with insulation and all. I also have a small aluminum trailer (12 ft) that I'm building into the perfect little offroad-supplies carrying trailer. I have a little Honda generator that's 40 lbs and will run everything I need, sips gas too. I have to live off the grid for work sometimes, in a travel trailer. So, I just gotta transfer my skills to doing it in the back of a truck . It's gonna take a lot of planning and learning, but I'm gonna try. I'm only young once after all.

Yup! Check my build thread - you have an access cab so it might still be a bit tight, but might still be doable. I think there's still a lot of room in the access cab, if you use the passenger footwell like I did not, you might be able to make it work in the access cab.

I want to get a little generator for camping but I just can't justify it, not for what I am currently doing. MAYBE for a trip like this, but not for what I'm doing now at least.

I bought it at a charity auction supporting a organization im very passionate about (the Ontario camp of the deaf) so it was a win win for me. It's been great, has about 500 hours on it now and literally hasn't missed a beat. And for sure, it looks like you've got quite the thread goin, I'll check it out

I will bet you have never felt colder than -20C on your skin.

If you have ever felt -35C, you would never say this. GL sleeping. Or keeping your windshield from freezing, since the taco has such great defrost. I have problems at -20C snow wheeling in a storm for a few hours.. Cant imagine days and days in that temp, just you and what you can bring in the the truck.

Takes serious commitment to accomplish a goal like that. Not just, 'Welp think Ill do it.'

We'll set up a recovery team to go get him. In the following summer months because there will still be snow out there...
We'll find him like this probably

my record is -32F which is kind of close. I went to school in Orono Maine. Not tropical but I also didn’t sleep outside/camp for a month in it.

I’m out for winter. We can recover and take you back like green boots on Everest. We can just use you as a mile marker on the side of the road.
