Timing Belt Job in SD

Anyone have any positive experience working with a shop doing a timing belt/water pump job (Tacoma v6)? I have been planning on doing this myself, but gathering all the specialty tools has been a chore, along with finding a hand. Haven’t lived in SD long so any help or direction would be appreciated!!

Just finished up doing a water pump and timing belt on my '97.

I just fabbed up another crank shaft pulley holder ($free.99) as I misplaced the one I made 12 years ago for the last water pump and timing belt.

For the cam sprocket tool, I use this same tool. I just slip some plastic tubing over the grade 8 bolts, add a washer and a nut to each bolt. Then slip the nut/washer combos over a cam sprocket spoke each and it gives me a handle to torque the cam bolt against.




Only shitty thing about this job this time was I was fooled into using the supplied water pump gasket. Didn't work worth a crap.








Tore it back down, cleaned everything back up and did it with FIPG like factory. After a 20 mile rigorous test drive, I appears to be solid this time.
