Different brand, but many people with the Hooke Road rack replace the fairing with a light bar.

The leather punch and tape idea was super clutch. That part of the process took mere minutes. Super happy with the rack and diode bar. Headed to the beach this weekend!

Sorry if this has been brought up but does anyone have any recommendations for protection from someone stealing the bars to get to stuff mounted on top of the rack?

Yep, I used security torx on the rails that have stuff mounted on them. Obviously someone could still just unbolt the entire rack, but that wouldn’t be a quick effort.

Not sure if proper forum but I am looking at someone selling a prinsu rack that they cut shorter to equal a habitat rack. Is there a way to reverse this with new side rails or can they even be found separate?

I am getting a Prinsu in a few weeks and was looking at this to mount my Mountain Bike with Thru Axel. I emailed etrailer.com since they sell it and asked if it was compatible with the Prinsu racks, plus asked if there are any limitations on what orientation to use when mounted (flat/horizontal witht he clamp facing forwards or backwards, straight up/vertical with the clamp facing up). I am not sure their reply is correct but what ddo I know.

They said it was not compatible and is only for use with truck bed rails.

Below are pictures of the parts and instructions. Is there any reason this will not work out of the box? Do I need different mounting hardware for the Prinsu tracks?

I swore I’d never get a roof rack, but here I am…Prinsu rack shows up later this week. With another big xc road trip this year I was yearning for more space in the cab. Got a roam 83l case and a smaller vortex case to mount on it. Locks for the roam case are on the way. The vortex case has such a better design for locking purposes.
Gotta get some security screws for the cross bars now. Then I’ll get it mounted up and pot pics next weekend

The one who dies with the most stuff wins.
I have a full length rack that I might end up chopping to fit a RTT lower on my cap rack. Where are you located? We could trade side pieces.

So I have a GX with a Victory rack but the extrusions should be the same and I have two of these mounted, they work great. I had to use t-nuts that would fit the slot and different bolts. The bolts I used were a little long so I had to add a couple washers on the middle bolt otherwise the thread was too long. It's a solid fit and I've had bikes attached on the freeway for thousands of miles with these and no issues. Pardon the super dirty black paint :D

Thanks this is exactly the reply I was hoping to get. I have t-nuts on order and wil probably just dremel cut the torx nuts that came with it down to correct size. I mounted it on my bed rails this past weekend to test it out. This bike rack is rock solid.

Got it mounted up. Grab handles are Kayak handles from Amazon. Got a bunch of the McMaster black bolts/nuts so it's all matchy.
Definitely not going to run around w/ the case mounted on it, but it's up there now after drilling the holes so I wanted to make sure it fit well. Still have one more case to mount, which is only half the length of the Roam case. Then to figure out what to put in the empty space up there. Almost ready for August's road trip!

Hey guys. I have a cab rack I am trying to mount on my Smartcap. The tracks are within the measurements they are telling me will fit, but they are a hair too wide to mount. I called and they said I may need to buy the short mounts. I asked if I could put the stiffener brace on the inside of the mounts and he said I could but but didn't seem that confident. If I did this I could use the mounts I have. It's the extra space for the stiffener plate that is the problem, which the directions say to put between the mounts and the side rail. Has anybody done this? I am putting an rtt with a family on top with a total weight of 600 lbs static, although some of that will be on the latter. Any advice would be great, thanks!

Followup to my post above on attaching the Rockymount Driveshaft Track Thru Axel Bike mount. Got this done today.

Sticks up a bit higher above the bar than I expected and is harder to get the bike up here than expected as well. This mounting point is just a backup depending on # bikes that I need to carry and what other cargo I have, or if I am camping and don' have room in the bed. It has a pretty snug lock to lock the thru axel which is nice.

Instead of the mounting hardware that came with it, I sourced:
The 14mm bolts were a perfect fit to catch all the thread in the tnut without bottoming out in the track.

The rear tire sits on the second to last bar and I just use a rubber strap thru the two tie down points to hold it in place.

I mounted mine this way because I wanted my Thule tracks to miss the "honeycomb" in my cap and didn't want to spend more time/money on the project (new mounts). It makes tightening everything up a bit more of a hassle, ratcheting wrenches help.

    plasti Dip all around

I have to give you huge props for this design!! I haven't seen anyone else tackle it so well and secure! How's it been since it's been up there for over a year now?

Makes me wonder how many cases have the same dimensions for mounting points between the wheels and you could take your design somewhere and have someone else mass produce them and make some dolla's!
