The dealers here say they cannot be ordered because first gens are old.

I bought mine here... not cheap but the real deal and definitely worth it.
Edit: check out the seller, Bishko Automotive Literature - they have factory books for several Tacomas and other Toyotas

If you scour the dark recesses of the interwebs, you'll find an electronic copy.

There used to be a copy floating around here, but TW didn't take kindly to hosting less-than-legally-obtained information...

But hey, when the alternative is spending $160... Money talks...

There is still a sticky link to multiple manuals on this forum - I downloaded a copy of the 2003 FSM from there... handy when you need to print something out. Link here, seems to still work...

I got mine on Amazon from Bishko Automotive. I think it was about a hundred bucks. Worth it, as I've referred to it for several jobs.

I'm trying to look and find the place I bought mine from about a year ago. I didn't pay quite as much as above, I think it was more like $115-120 if I remember correctly. I know you can find electronic copies for much much cheaper but I guess I'm old school, I like being able to have the book open in front of me. And sometimes scrolling through the electronic files is a pain in the ass......especially with greasy hands!

I hear you Dave - something about having that book right in front of me... the full set is HUGE, almost 4,000 pages of stuff! Worth every penny too, it's already pretty much paid for itself in saved time for me.

Purchased from this seller back in 2017. Included Vol 1, Vol 2 and the complete Electrical Wiring Diagram for the 2002. Was $151 back then and he's still selling but he's increased it to $181.

The electronic version is perfectly fine and will get you through whatever you need to do but yes, having the actual manual in hand is a plus.

Mine came as a 3 volume set - never seen the separate electrical diagram book before...
Edit: you can't see it in the photo but the third volume is labeled 2a and is a continuation of volume 2.

The electronic version I downloaded from a popular site has many errors when I click on certain pages.

Google has held me down well though

Got mine off Ebay motors, sometimes you can get lucky on Craigslist, or some stores online that specialize in vintage and current service manuals.
I have quite a few, Ive been able to find what I need on Ebay motors. They can get spendy, but they are worth it to have, especially if means saving some money by
doing it yourself, and learning something in the process.
