Just finished up doing the front struts with the 5100 OME 886 Coils and upon getting it back on the ground and doing a test ride I noticed a bit of a pulsing noise, almost sounding like tire rub but the tires are complete clear of everything, only have 265/70/17s. There is no vibration and it is correlated to the speed of something rotating, from 20-50 mph the pulsing speeds up and then becomes very hard to notice sub 15 mph unless I really listen for it. I'm assuming it is the needle bearing issue as when I put it in 4-High it goes away as many have described. but before I rip back into anything I wanted to see if anyone had any other thoughts on things to check first that could be causing the noise.
    Cheers!

Did you get a front end alignment after the lift?

I have not yet but I do plan to this week. I suppose that would likely be a good place to start before ordering new bushings and specialty tools.

    Same crap everyone else got
if you haven't gotten it aligned, it's most likely and alignment issue and tire wear on the road.

If it was an alignment issue it most likely wouldn't go away by putting the truck in 4wd.

That was my thought, I know it should be aligned regardless, since I've got it from bone stock I've done wheels/tires and the level so I know it needs it. But the noise subsiding with 4wd vs 2wd is what didn't make sense to me.

Needle bearing for sure. The 4wd test confirms that

Yea, its very slow 5-15, maybe a second in between pulses then quicker and quicker up to 55 60 then it almost goes away. But I assume that's just bc the pulse has become so fast it is just constant at that point.

With that known, is the ECGS bushing the best fix for that or does anyone have any better solution?

really sounds like needle bearing. for me it sounded like a rumble strip that was intermittent. another way to tell is if it goes away or lessens after the truck is warm. ecgs bushing is the best fix

I get it: I did "x" to my truck and now "something ain't right" can be very unnerving but a quick Google search would have resulted in multiple threads on here alone regarding this very issue.

As multiple others have said: ECGS bushing. Ask on here or your state's thread and bet someone has a puller they'll loan you or even find folks that will be happy to help w/ install in exchange for beer.

Appreciate the advice, I just posted on my local page to see if anyone has the tool by chance. I did the quick google search and a search on this forum which led me to the needle bearing issue and egcs bushing as a solution, this post was more to just confirm what I suspected and to be sure there wasn't anything else that could be the cause as I have ripped into projects before on suspicion alone only to replace everything but the problem piece until last, trying to learn from past lessons finally.

side note, not sure if it was admin or other that removed that post about tracking posts of "modifying a well engineered vehicle", but props to this forum on weeding out comments that provide no value...

Feel your pain there! My most recent involved losing >$500 in tropical fish to a faulty heater that I finally replaced after replacing a nearly new pump w/ a new $500 one and doing hours of water chemistry research. Hell, I even had a pathology work up done on one dead fish to find out there was NOTHING wrong with it pathologically.
