I've never had it done personally. I do know that I was quoted over $1k for paint correction & seal about 2 years ago so that doesn't seem too far off to me given inflation and whatnot. Have you called around anywhere else to get quotes?

This was the other guys I used to see out at COTA a lot and saw some of their work. Definitely high class place though. So I doubt their quote will be anywhere near the others.

Prices on the ceramic coat got me feeling unlazy, anyone have a good YouTube video or experience DIY?

A little something every chance we get.
I just have smears on the case, no drips. It surely can wait. SM Toyota quoted me less than yours, but I'd have to dig it up. Since you're not an old person to take advantage of, it might be even less still!

The electric fan replaced the OEM clutch fan back in fall of 2018. Nary a problem. OEM clutch was probably defective, even though I could not prove it. Blades would be free when parked cool, and spin hot. (I didn't force that issue), but I got a great deal on the e_fan when I was shopping for the clutch, so why not. All the noises went away. Can't say for sure what caused it to interact with all the new stuff, but it was finally isolated to connected = problems, not connected = good. Take it out.

Now, I just have to make up all the other connections for accessories again. Nice afternoon for that.

My understanding of the "proper" process is that the paint correction is the time/cost sink.

Evening folks. We took 1.10" in 45 minutes pretty hard, loud, and bright - BUT - none of those winds and hails around us! That's always a great thing. Still rumbling out there.

    Look who came home!

Anyone going to be out at COTA on Saturday? I'll be driving a cart for the Med Center, and watching the Tundra 225!

I was thinking about going, but never bought tickets because Covid, and no one here wanted to go. Be great on TV if it don't rain! I'll look for you!

:pccoffee: Good Morning ATX! Great to have LBR home, even if I have to go through the accessory wiring to put it back. In other circumstances, I'd be a little upset, but I have the stereo, and everything still works - just have to find a new place for an accessory tap, and fix up some hardware. Shroud should be here Friday (the real one), along with the new grill to build. So, along with mowing when the rain quits, I gots some stuff to do this weekend!

    Happy Hump Friday everyone.

My nuts finally arrived. That doesn't sound right, but McMaster had the correct 8mm x 1.25mm with 12mm across the flats. I used to buy packages of 100 of those from Nissan for $4 (been a while). Went in to get more and it was $4 each. WTF?

    Spotted these guys:
    https://www.mcmaster.com/95108A102/
    https://www.mcmaster.com/90438A150/

The flange at 17.1 or 17.5 might be a hair too large, but so nice not to encounter a 13mm nut while wrenching on the Tacoma.

Did an absolute bonehead rookie maneuver when milling a block of aluminum. For the rough cut piece, you need to square it on all six sides first, then start machining. I screwed up big time, too heavy of a cut with my 3/4" carbide milling cutter. Paid $90 for the cutter, slices through 4140 like butter. With aluminum, speeds and feeds and it is so rigid you can just shave it fast. Workpiece flipped out, cutter shattered, damn it! I knew better. Replacement milling cutter. $250. Grrrrr.
