I just got a Hobart 210 welder from my buddy what setting is good for welding hangers to that 1/8'' frame without burning through the frame, Im using 240v I was planning on going with .035 at the setting for 1/4'' metal, does this seem excessive?

Every welder is slightly different so if it is new to you you should get some scraps of plate and run some tests to dial it in.

I prefer .030 wire but that’s just me. My weld setting change constantly and will vary machine to machine so you’ll have to try some different settings.

I've used both .035 and .030 both are nice but I'd have to say I prefer .035". As for settings, wire manufacturer makes a huge difference. I prefer Lincoln L56. Most of the time other than heavy wall tubing on the axle you will be around 18v and 230ipm

If you aren't sure what settings your welder should have, I don't suggest you even attempt to weld on your suspension.

Start with something less critical to safety, like sliders or a skid plate or hell, some lawn furniture.

It is WAY more complicated than twisting a couple knobs and pulling the trigger.

Then I like .023 for everything on the Tacoma.

So many things effect the output it needs fine tuning all the time.
