A few years ago I was at the mall and watched some dude hop in his car, throw it in neutral and stick his leg out the door to Fred Flintstone his vehicle out of the stall and take off. Where there's a will, there's a way!

LoL! I actually do that in my garage any time that I am not going to drive off right away. Like when swapping cars around or whatever. Why start it, when it'll roll easily.

I prefer my manual 60 series than the less than ideal LC Prado 90 series ;)

than again most of us LC geezers are elitist towards prados

How are you better off if the auto trans selection lever breaks off?

Yeah, you can start a manny in any gear with the clutch in but an auto only starts in park or neutral.

You're right, my cousin had an 80 series. I was close to buy a 71 but its just too uncomfortable. My LC Prado 90 made it to ALL the trips I took, river crossings, mud, I even pulled 71s out of messy situations and it was way more comfortable, just gotta be mindful of the IFS as with any new truck. But you're right LOL.

All jokes aside something that is 10x better in any auto is backing a trailer into a tight spot on an incline. The tall gear combined with the way the throttle responds in reverse makes that task probably the least enjoyable of anything I have ever pulled with. Everything else about it i love though.

While I agree with you, there is a mod for that. The 2LM:

    2 reasons: take your pick:
    1. So I could put one of these bad-ass shifter knobs on.
    2. So my wife can’t drive her

    X2.

Towed about 3500# trailer and backing up was so easy with the mod, did not burn the clutch at all. Can’t wait to use it on the boat launch. IMO a must if you tow any kind of trailer.

Although I did use it empty a couple of times when backing up a steep driveway, my clutch thanked me.

One nice thing about my 6MT Frontier is it does not buck or shudder at all when you lug it down.

This makes it really great for cruising rough gravel roads. I'll be running along in 3rd and see an obstacle ahead (cross ditch, pot holes etc). No need to downshift, just slow down and so long I keep it rolling I can run it right down to the point of stalling and it'll accelerate out of it no problem at all.

I have yet to drive a 6MT 3.5L Tacoma, can anyone tell me if it behaves the same way? I've had other MT vehicles that will just buck and shudder like crazy and you'll have to drop it into 1st to get going again.

I can be in 3rd at about 1200 rpm and she picks up speed just fine. Stock or tuned. Tuned is a bit better of course. I even tested it up inclines, no bucking or shuddering here. That’s 2WD though, not the case in 4wd, will definitely need to downshift.

My truck actually drove great right out of the dealer, it was hard for me to understand the “TW complaints”

Im sure others will have a different experiences as 3rd gen tacos seem to have a lot of discrepancies.

Shout out to the old timers from the 60's and 70's. Remember the 1976 Ford F-100 Twin Shifter Pickup truck ? Ahhhh yes. Jammin gears at its finest......
