So my cat got cut off and stolen last night. What's the move from here? How long can I reasonably drive around before doing hardcore damage? Obviously not forever but I don't want to tow it to the shop either. I've got the 3.4L with a supercharger so I know open headers aren't exactly ideal. Any ideas? Do I even really need one or can I just straight pipe it back to the muffler?

    You just gained like 40hp!

    leave it!

    :D
    kidding...

You can drive it to the shop without it exploding, so you're fine there. IIRC, Magnaflow makes a cat that's carb compliant (I know that doesn't matter to you in the PNW), but it's a good alternative to the super spendy OEM ones.

I'd remove the other one, add a resonator and call it a day

Only a small problem with the bolt in "test pipes"........there is nothing to attach bolts.

Turn it in to insurance. Pay the deductible. Have it repaired correctly.

Pretty sure there are flanges to bolt onto.

Yes, on the test pipe. His exhaust has been hacked off along with the flanges.......

He is in for a trip to the exhaust shop.

Catalytic converters are being stolen because of the price of rhodium. They are being sold for scrap to companies that can extract the metals from the cats. Sucks man.

Was picking up some cheap tools to keep in the truck at harbor freight over the weekend and the dude in front of me was checking out with a reciprocating saw and a boatload of metal blades. Couldn’t help but wonder what he was up to, and noticed that the startup cost for a cat thief is less than $80.

Sucks that someone got to yours.

80 bucks isnt a whole lot to start your own enterprise. Sucks for sure. Emissions isnt a worry for me, dont need them to stay registered and legal, so this test pipe idea is kinda where I'm headed. That way there isnt any temptation for them to take my next cat haha.

Other than the CEL do i need to move the O2 sensor? Im thinking of just moving the second one up to the empty hole and calling it good. Almost like a "plug & play" if you will

Not a lot of cats being stolen in states with open carry laws. We buy our gun safes at Harbor Freight, along with shovels.

Check with your insurance to see if it's covered. My entire exhaust system was just stolen a few weeks ago, and my aftermarket headers were damaged in the process. I paid a $100 deductible and now have an entire brand new exhaust system.

except meth makes you bulletproof... or at least you think you are.

Read the other day about a homeowner that yelled at a duo of cat thieves to get out from under his truck and off his property. Tweakers told him to fuck off so the homeowner came back out with his gun. Unarmed tweaker then tried to attack the home owner and was shot dead.

meth is a hell of a drug.

Right?! Imagine that, bastard criminals don't want to earn an honest living, and the law abiding citizens can't do jack shit about it, even if we're willing to donate the ammo. Truly pisses me off. I'm going to create a phallic shaped stencil and then spray paint giant pink dicks on both my cats. I gotta laugh about it since I'm not willing to go to prison for smoking a lowlife.
