Well time has finally come unfortunately that I am looking to sell my 2013 DCSB Tacoma. Never really thought this day would come to be honest but I no longer use the truck for what it was build and frankly a house has become more important.

Just to catch anyone before they get reading too far, do realize this truck HAS been off-roaded fairly extensively. With that being said I do not feel that it has suffered any large damage from that but do realize, paint and some other aspects are not going to be showroom quality. Paint has visible scratches, scrapes, and some minor damage from this so if you want a show truck this probably isn't it. Also note that this truck would probably not be the best daily in the world either due to the suspension modifications. Not saying it isn't doable but it takes a certain type of person to want that.

Probably missed some things but that list should grab most of what is on, or has been done to the vehicle. Some other points I would like to make on the vehicle are below. Note by these just trying to make sure anyone interested has the full run-down on this vehicle.

• Rust
  • Overall the vehicle is not too bad on this front. Definitely some noticeable surface rust but nothing falling off/ cracking/ holes/ etc. If I were keeping the truck would be probably looking to get the frame coated in POR15 and having the LCAs,UCAs, and sliders repainted/touched up. Note this vehicle live the last 8 years of its life in WV so she was exposed to salt and winter conditions but was kept up with pretty well in that respect.
• Driving Characteristics
  • As stated earlier for the comment about the daily driver, this truck definitely does not handle like a normal vehicle. On the road there is some slight wander (very slight however, overall steering is pretty tight) but the most noticeable characteristic is in turns. With as soft as the suspension is the truck does lean decently into corners and requires some countersteer. This is an unfortunate side effect of the suspension as offroad, this vehicle is incredibly smooth and accurate. Does probably need an alignment as it has been awhile.
• Future Maintenance/Mods
  • If I were keeping the truck there are a few items that need addressed. First is the rear diff that is leaking out to the main seal. Leak is very small as I have never seen it puddle, but it is there and the bottom of the diff is usually wet. Secondly LCA/UCA heims will probably need changed in the next year or so. Don't really have much slop in them but the sleeves are starting to shred and there is a little slop. Nothing of an immediate worry but long term would be nice to change them (the do creek from the liners being shot which can be annoying). Currently a warning light on for SRS system that readout is fault in Squib B circuit. This is one I had meant to look further into and never did. Both front crash sensors were replaced since I had attributed moisture intrusion to them failing and that causing the issue (known problem) to no success. Probably harness causing the issue, really just needs time to trace the system and check connectors. Finally the passenger side tie rod end needs replacing as the boot was ripped at some point and no longer retains grease. This is all I see in the near future but with the type of truck, things do pop up.

Probably gotten a little long winded at this point but really want to make sure I am being transparent on this truck. I have really cared for this truck and tried to do things correctly so I hope that is being shown. Still sad to see it go.

Seeing those rusted kings makes my eyes hurt. Did you include a price or did I miss it?

Yep price per what Ray pointed out.

The Kings are definitely sad but mostly surface corrosion thankfully.... they had a pretty hearty coating on them. Was on the list to do but ran out of time and frankly, I get weirded out when someone is selling a recently painted vehicle so didn't want to run into the "what are you hiding" issue. For what its worth some scotch-brite on the bodies themselves and touchup on the coils should get them like new.

 

Price drop to $32k... probably where she is gonna stay for quite some time.

 

What about the Title? Is it clean?

Hey guys, thanks for the replies. To those of whom it may concern if you all are going to get on here and question why something is for sale for the price it is, chances are I am betting you are not truly interested and if that is the case, please refrain is all I can ask, out of respect for myself and others.

That out of the way those that look at this truck and all they see is rust are probably planning on this being a rig and not a daily. if that is the case, this truck really isn't for you.

With respect to your question @Nick1999 on the price, for a bone stock truck, no I do not believe a truck of this age would be selling for that price. KBB on the truck as of last I checked (couple of weeks) was $26k. If I wanted that I would take it to a dealer because this is not a bone stock truck. Factor in the $15k of work and parts and all of the sudden that extra couple thousand dollars doesn't seem so bad. So to reiterate, this truck is priced as it is because of the modifications to the truck, but also based on the downsides. Those who know what they are looking at will understand that.

For those concerned about the rust, do realize how many trucks from the North have likely been painted to cover that up and you would never know. The rust seen is indicative of these trucks from the area. Toyota doesn't have the best track record of coating their frames and this is another case. There are other elements that are rusty, not saying they aren't but nothing is structural and it is all fixable, I just do not have the time now, hence why I am selling. If this turns anyone off from this truck I am not going to apologize for it or sell the truck for $500. As stated in the original post, if you want a show truck this aint it.

Concerning the title it is clean, didn't feel I needed to state that with the price. I have tried to be transparent on this and show people what they are getting but I guess that has not worked.

I do apologize to anyone truly interested in this truck if my manor of responding seems a bit rude but frankly at the end of 60 hour weeks with more to go I can get a little short with people.

Also as a further note, truck is now in Texas, was moved here in January from WV.

Also should note as it was mentioned briefly in a post earlier and was something I glazed over in the original post and probably shouldn't have, all wiring on the truck has been done properly to what I would call safe standards. Admittedly it looks BAD and I will not deny that..... was never prettied up even though it should have been. However, all stuff was done to make the circuits safe. For those interested all components are on their own high power circuits with separate low power actuation circuits linked by relays. In addition everything is fused properly and care was taking for things like the winch, to ensure no issues by using mechanical isolators. If anyone is interested more than that in the system I can walk you through it (work with me though as it has been a few years since its been touched). As a note to that as well almost all stock wiring is unaltered and in tact (with the exception of a splice on the front marker lights from me not looking ahead) and all connections were made with proper outdoor connectors and sealed up properly. Only electrical issue to date was failing of one of the retrofit ballasts due to water intrusion from the Morimoto harness.

 

I support your price, those LCA/UCA and Kings alone are worth $6-8k, especially with the insane King backups atm, my order went on the books in early March

Like your build and would strongly consider it at $32k, especially with only 62k miles, except I've been pumping money into my truck like it's going out of style and I'm having too much fun.

 

Yeah I was lucky on those.... only waited a couple months back when I got them since one of their employees was a big member on here then and got some expedite on stuff since it was directly from King an not a distributor. Had no clue the wait was so long at this point though! Been out of the market for a few years on this stuff now.

And I appreciate it! Honestly breaks my heart, had a lot of good memories and fun times from this thing but life has to go on. Would love to do another offroad build but chances of that are pretty slim for the time being which is sad.

Sounds like you are doing it properly though.... only way to really get into it and make it what you want if you ask me... and that's even doing the work yourself. Honestly if you're enjoying it that's all that matters. That's what I've always loved about these things... they bring out the kid in everyone. Just cant beat it

 

Price is 100% fair for someone that appreciates the build. He’s already knocked off a good amount for the rust. If the frame was in good condition, I could see OP getting much more. but you can’t say it’s not rusty. It takes a lot longer than 2 years for a truck to look like that unless you’re neglecting the frame/proper care. Even in Minnesota.

 

BUMP for being open to offers/trades. Seems like not many people in the area are likely looking for something like this so rather than lowering price just looking to mention I would be open to offers if there is any interest on it or potentially trades for 3/4 ton trucks. Would consider shipping of the vehicle as well
