    Hi,

i purchased a 1996 taco 2 months ago and i discovered that the cab mount is rusty and peeling off. The drain holes where plugged so i gave that a clean. The rest of the frame is in great condition. I tried to remove all the sand as much as possible today.
Any one had issues with cab mounts? And is this bad ? the external of it seem solid.
    Thanks a lot

Clean things up better it is hard to tell.

    Is that the worst one??

If your going to make new ones do both sides.

Where do you live get your frame cleaned and treated.

Yup, the drain holes become blocked trapping dirt and grit making a perfect place for water to collect and start rusting. In my case it was the frame treatment that caused it, Toyota replaced the frame for this hole in the cab mount.

Wire brush, Coroseal rust converter, Rust-Oleum farm black paint. Rinse undercarriage and apply Fluid Film Fall and Spring.
    Tacoma frames rust from inside.
Use undercoating gun with 360° extension wand to spray Coroseal inside box frame sections. Let dry and spray Fluid Film inside.

1995.5 - 2000 Tacomas never got replacement frames anyhow, Toyota just bought them back and crushed them. 01 - 04 got the replacement frames.

Unfortunately those programs are over for all 1st gens now

I second the fluid film treatment. The owner of my old 1987 would religiously spray his truck down with fluid film every 6 months or so. It makes working on the truck a PITA and dirty, but when I brought the truck here to Tucson from New Hampshire the frame was pristine. The stuff genuinely works!

Thank you guys, hopefully i can get this under control.

i cleaned the inside of the frame as much as possible. Got all the dirt out with a compressor and rinse it off until water coming out of the drain was clear. I found some rusty spot inside the frame where the c frame becomes a box frame. It looks like this. Hopefully this isnt too bad

I dont have the full history of the truck, but would it be possible that it was undercoated and the pain is rusting/chipping?
