Its was $3.05 at costco this morning in Arvada!

 

Anyone with a 2nd gen ever deal with a weeping transfer case? I'm pretty darn sure I didn't crack the housing or anything since I avoid the rocks at the mall.

How can I tell it is the transfer case vs input/output shaft seal vs something else?

The weep is on both ends of the transfer case, but worse at the front.

EDIT: Smells like gear oil. Looks like gear oil (I just changed it a few thousand miles ago, so it's still very light colored).

I got the same strap from TWSS and it's well made.

 

Careful using that- Towing only. You want to use a "Kinetic Energy" Recovery rope to actually tug someone out of whatever they are stuck in/ on.

 

It's not a static tow rope.... Says it has some stretch

 

That’s how I read it and same in some of the Q and A.

 

The marketing materials also show it used as a recovery rope in several situations

 

Given the use of Nylon in description, I expect bumpers to be removed if you use it to tug. YMMV

Not to mention the "false" advertising that is all over Amazon.

 

3" is way too wide and stiff for recovery. Go for a 2" strap, 20'-30'.
20' is the preferred length for most applications.

I should have verified the product description in the link matched the sound advise in the post before I purchased.
So far it hasn’t removed @johntoyota, @Sub-Zero, some trucks in Pismo or my bumper - yet. Going to have snatch harder.

Just saw a Chevy Bolt with ditch lights, a light bar on the front, and light pods screwed into the back bumper.

 

Naturally, that was a Jeeps fault that you had to pull me, even though you said you hadnt.

I'd stay away from the Morrison area the next few days. Something about rehydrating mushrooms with bush light beer at some sort widespread picnicking event. I guess it's like a home and garden show for hippies but everything smells like patchouli and the grilled cheese is made with questionable standards... at least the water is still chilly
