Thanks to numerous TW member requests, Spiker Engineering is holding its July 4th "Born in the USA" sale. All of our 100% USA made products are 15% off during the sale, NOW through 11:59pm July 5.

    Use coupon code "BornInUSA".

Our ULTIMATE Lift hood struts are the only ones available for Toyota trucks that offer you the flexibility to have your truck's hood open to any height between stock and up to 8" above stock, for unparalleled access and lighting. Note that you do not have to set your hood at the max height setting - if you have ditch lights, or simply don't need this feature, you can choose whatever height you want, between stock and max. No one else offers this kind of flexibility.

Spiker kits feature USA made premium OEM-quality struts (black enameled), heavy gauge mounting brackets (powder coated in gloss black), and heavy duty multi-grip rivets. All components in our kits have been designed and sized to work perfectly in your truck, with quality, longevity, and warranty that is the best in the industry.

Our gauge mounts are designed to hold an Ultragauge or Scangauge securely in your field of view, without obstructing your view of the road. Made of heavy gauge steel with a powder coat finish, these mounts are 100% USA Made, like all our products. Also available is an add-on pod for additional 2-1/16" gauges.

All Spiker Engineering products are shipped via flat rate shipping of $5.95 within the USA, no matter how many items you buy.

Damn, I wish international shipping wasn't $40usd. Too bad! Looks like a better choice over the competitors!

I've not done enough research to know one way or another, but can anyone comment on the worry that struts like these will, over time, cause your hood to warp?

The idea is that the struts are constantly putting pressure upwards on the hood, but I don't know if that's a valid concern or not

They’d only put meaningful pressure upward while holding the hood up on the open position

I hear you - but it's only $38.50 :D. And it costs us more than that to ship a kit, so we're subsidizing the shipping costs!

Certainly a valid question, given how flimsy the Toyota hoods are.

The struts exert the highest pressure on the hood when the hood is closed (and struts fully compressed). But in that position, the force is mostly along the hood, so there's no bending/warping load.

When the hood is fully open, the center of gravity is between the strut and the hinge, so again, not much of a bending load.

The highest loading occurs when you need to close the hood - you pull down on the tip of the hood, and have to overcome the resisting force from the struts. The longer that distance between where you pull down and where the strut is attached, the higher the bending load. We use long struts in our kits to reduce the moment arm and the bending loads, and as a result, there haven't been any issues with hood warping .

Would have bought these without the discount, great product, you really do need a # 10 drill bit, the 3/16” is a little snug, used my brass case reamer to open it up for the rivet holes. E5AA323A-3CA3-4561-9440-A3A802E780B8.jpg
