I have to pick my battles wisely. First, there's this phenomenon that occurs around this time of year, every year. It's called HEAT, and with it go words like Stroke, Exhaustion, Over ed, Ball Sweat (I just threw that one in there). Then, there are these little life forms that live in the woods. People call them bugs, pests, snakes, possums, evil Demon Fckn'g SPIDERS! So, Uncle Rob does not under any circumstances, go camping anywhere there are an overabundance of spiders, or while there are temps greater than 65 degrees and humidity higher than the same, which generally increases the spider population. It's mainly because of the heat and my excessive sweating condition. It's called fat and drinks a lot!

Also, I'll be training Phoenix and installing the fence in the back yard. Once I learn how to sufficiently sharpen chain saw chains. And do it so I can clear some more debris and possibly a couple trees. Then we want to completely redo the deck and adjoining garden on the hill. I'm going to run the backyard fence along the top of the hill behind the house and then back down, to tie into the rear corner of the poolbar. I'd like to at least be done the fence by August.

This is just the first of many phases.

I thought We All were Each Other's Spiritual Partners? I feel like mine is out there.......

    Awww <3

I have one of the U5 series handheld and the U8 series handheld Baofeng radios. You should have a license for the ham frequencies. What's nice about them is you can easily program channels so you can use GMRS frequencies too.

You just need to be sure to have the proper antenna setup. But it's easy to get one that covers both bands.

    See my response above :anonymous:

I think a bunch of guys from the Northern Virginia thread are going.

Bend at the knees is what I typically say but at your age, do you want me to see if we can find you some high school kids off for the summer wanting to make a hundred bucks each?

Funny, I wonder if it's the same one I saw at the Wawa in Hickory. Nice guy.

    Mornin' Everyone!

The walk this morning was actually not as miserable as they have been lately. It was 77 but the feels like was at 71. That's for normal people though that react normally to typical weather scenarios.

I'll know by Monday if I'm off 7/17, but I'm planning on going.

If we want to reach out to a few more people, I do know of 2 guys in MD on t4r.org that may be interested in going

@Scrovak there is a cheap set at Staples. But from what @RobP62 is saying some ham radios will also do GMRS. Not sure whether you have to have a certification registered ham radio for the GMRS to work or if yours has GMRS

    https://www.staples.com/midland-x-talker-t10-portable-two-way-radio-black-2-pack/product_2429074

@beorn the fat I was just joking no rush at all. I’m sure we will see each other sometime here in the near future.

I'll probably grab a GMRS hand set and take a look in the future about licensing options and set ups, see if it's worth it.

I say the more the merrier, but I’m not planning to do anything other than greens. And I don’t know my way around up there. I’ve only been once and I was following a group. Hopefully somebody has experience with the AOAA trails.

You may get lucky and maybe somebody in the group that is going may have an extra radio. Most people buy them in sets.

Looks like I missed a few people lol.

I’m also in for the green trails. Meeting up before would work.
Anyone want to start a thread in the regional discussion for more people to see? I saw someone asking in the MORE FB group about going next weekend but he has a jeep so I ignored his post…j/k.

Sounds like a good idea to me, at least in the PA thread too. The more the merrier! And, being as this is my first trail, I would also prefer to stick to the greener trails.

I have noticed in the MORE group there are a lot of Tacoma owners in it as well. One of their meet ups last year there was probably about 20 Tacoma there. The Tacoma’s owners were the only ones that won the eight raffles they did raffles they did.
