Volume Left-Right

Anybody attempt to clock this shit configuration a 1/4 turn CCW? I hate how the volume is left-right and track is up-down .

 

I feel ya...4 1/2 years in and still I mix em up.

 

Your radio volume knob turns left for down and right for up...

This seems like a fine thread to also ask why the heck does the sunroof need 2 switches to operate? It's assinine.

 

I got fed up with the steering controls and just use the touchscreen and volume knob .

 

Mine have always worked just fine took me all of 30 seconds to see which side did what never a problem since then

 

The 2nd Gen Tacoma had the same switch but had it up and down instead of side to side, l preferred that one.

 

Volume button on steering wheel is linear with volume display on head unit.

 

Is it really that hard to learn? I mean the volume up/down doesnt have any texture to it.

It’s Toyota’s reminder that we live in the ‘first world’ I guess. Never gave the controls any thought. Now it will upset my world

 

Same configuration on my 2009 Nissan Murano LE. Seems right to me.

 

hate this as well. wife’s CRV has it the correct way around.

 

I would venture that it's to do with the one-touch function. You need 4 inputs to have that work with a .3 second press as intended. If it was an up-and-out moonroof, the vent function is the first part of the open so you can have one switch and two taps to "one-touch" open it. Certain cars do have one button for vent and down-and-in but that requires something of a switch actuation counter so it usually uses a proper module instead of something simple with a couple contacts and a few hall sensors, so... it's a money thing.

My gripe: yes the up/down is mildly annoying but how the radio preset change order is opposite from every other source still irritates me, 36,000mi later. I could list and redo the presets... one day. It's easier to complain on the internet instead.

 

I mean it matches the infotainment system. Volume moves left/right, track & stations move up/down
