@Mastiffsrule , you could also look into Ethernet over Power (EoP). I don't have any first hand experience with it, as I have not needed it, but one of the guys who used to work for me said he used it with great speeds across the house.

Otherwise, I second the mesh setup.

    PoE.

Thats just how devices are powered, vs an external power adapter.

LOL. I had never heard of Ethernet over Power either before this guy told me about it.

Basically, you plug your Cat 5/5e/6 cable into a device that you also plug into the wall. It somehow uses the romex (power cables) in your house to send signal to a receiving unit, which can either broadcast a wireless signal, have another RJ45 connector, or both.

    Example: https://www.amazon.com/NETGEAR-Powe...t=&hvlocphy=9011040&hvtargid=pla-570327157909

Huh, learn something every day! I had not heard of that either.

So it's kinda like MoCA? Actually look into MoCA @Mastiffsrule as you likely already have that as an option.

I mean, you're not wrong. But your phone is always listening too. Privacy is an illusion, like airport security.

The Warfab hitch skid has better coverage and I’ve been bashing mine to death for 2 years now. I hit it in reverse hard enough to bend the steel , but the welds still held just fine.

That is what I was thinking. I would run cat six from the service box outside to where me modem is. Then my WiFi can do the rest, correct.

What service do you have? How is your current modem connected? Fiber, coax or dsl?

Kinetic/Windstream. Only other option was Spectrum and hate them. Cable modem on second floor. My house is wired weird, built in 02, I bought in 07. They were not cable pre wired and not all rooms had phone jacks. Best spot for modem was upstairs.

Windstream came out to upgrade, but I have basic phone line and cable. They would run the cable outside but o did not want that. So I will do it on ,y own, not sure what cable to run. So I guess cat 6 from service box to modem on second floor then my wifi can do the rest. Windstream can tie into cable at service box.

I really need to retire the whole dang house. Who builds a house in 2000’s without cable prewired. And not a cheap house, in s. Charlotte/Ballantyne area.
