I'm looking for black Tacoma logos to replace the stock chrome ones, but all I can find are "OVERLAY". I do not want to "cover up" my logos, I want them replaced with legitimate replacement logos.

Even on "Crapazon" I see overlays and I checked RFT but I can't tell if they are overlays or legit metal replacements.

    Any idea?

Just curious, whats wrong with covering them up? A lot of guys (myself included) just Plastidip them.

I'd assume you can get the OEM "black out package" emblems from Toyota.

Because I'd rather not just cover them up but replace them to match the metal black TOYOTA emblems on the back. Just for continuity.

I have the overlays, they are great. They were on the truck already, which I bought used, but personally...I like em! Apparently they are fairly inexpensive to purchase.

You can order directly from Toyota; but will quickly realize why overlays are more popular. Replacement emblems can cost $50 each if you really want genuine black emblems. Personally; I think the truck looks better without the badges. How many more places do you need Toyota or Tacoma plastered to let everyone know what you are driving. YMMV.

Go with the overlays. You can't tell the difference. I put the overlays on mine and my wife's truck has the black emblems from factory. Nobody will ever notice

Im more worried about overlays fading.

Also if you take the emblems off I know for sure it decreases the value of the truck.

Toyota even uses the overlays. My truck came with them. You really can’t tell they are overlays unless you kind of look at them REALLY close from the edge of the badge.

The overlay's look great. Can not tell the difference from the Amazon ones and OEM. Does anyone know where to get black overlays for the back Tacoma letters?

I'd sure like to see your data to support that last sentence, and I'm not talking about your personal experiences. I'm talking about national sales data, which I'm skeptical you could provide. Not some opinion from an internet forum or the like. It could hurt "trade-in" value I suppose if the dealer wants to play that card, but sale to an individual for a vehicle that has a following like like a Tacoma, Jeep, sports car, etc., I just don't buy it. Some potential new owners of a 3+ year old vehicle might like the fact there are no badges because removing them could present paint mismatch issues.

The best place by far is Tufskinz.com. They make very high quality that are anti-fade and easy to apply. They're pricey but you pay for quality.

I didn’t care for the overlays either so I ended up just removing the Tacoma emblems from the doors altogether. I added the black “4X4” pro emblem and the black v6 emblem was purchased from a Toyota dealership on eBay.

If you're worried about the overlays fading overtime, you can just replace them down the road. You could probably purchase 6-8 full set overlays for the price of 1 set of OEM black badges (not to mention the pain of removing the original emblems and the risk of not using a long lasting glue on the replacements...)

Mods? We don't need no stinking mods.
I doubt anyone keeps "national sales data" on Tacomas with original badging versus ones sold without the badging.

But personally, I wouldn't buy one that someone removed the badges and stickers from. It's part of the appeal of a TRD model.

(Yeah, I know that's just an internet forum opinion.)

One of the options I checked off the "Blackout Emblem Overlay" on the new OR, $160.00. What do I get for that, just the door emblems ?
Built 7/22, should see around 8/15.
