Figured I'd start a build thread to document my progress with the Tacoma.

First day I brought it home. It's a 03 SR5 Pre Runner with 126k. No modifications and it's all there. Have wanted one of these since I was a kid and am gonna have a lot of fun with this build:)

Right from the get go I was looking to add a supercharger. Pretty pricey to buy on their own so I turned my attention to auction trucks. That's when I found this for sale and ended up buying it. Was in a rollover which caved the roof in the middle there. Frame is completely shot and it leaks fuel from the lines, but still runs and refuses to give up.

Going to be pulling the SC and 4x4 parts to swap into the 03. Once I get around to it I'll be rebuilding the SC as well before install.

It's not pretty but she's got it where it counts.

Started on some maintenance items this week. Previous owner had no recollection of the timing belt being done so thought it was best to get it done. Glad I did as it looks like this is still an OEM belt. Impressed it made it all the way to 126k!

Water pump look like it was about ready to explode.

Also going to be knocking out the oil pan gasket, valve cover gaskets, and oil filter housing o rings while I'm in here. Truck is dumping oil at an alarming rate on the driveway. Praying it's not the RMS:frusty:

Redoing the oil pan RTV while I've got the truck in the garage. Next up valve covers.

Removing all of the old RTV was a PITA. :censored:

Underside looks good and clean. Real tell will be when the valve covers come off.

Valve cover, timing kit, and oil pan and transmission flush finally finished. Took her for a cruise and no leaks so far. Before, I would come out to 2 large puddles on the driveway after every drive, so I am happy to report that those days are over. :amen:

Forgot to snag a picture of the valve covers, but it was nice and clean under both. Fresh cam plugs and half moons to go along with each.

Nice rig! Look forward to seeing the 4x4 swap and the SC added on. What'd the parts truck cost ya and where'd ya find it? Would love to do a SC on mine down the road.

If you've got any questions on the 4x4 conversion feel free to reach out to me. I'm halfway done with one on my 2004.

Parts truck ran me $2700 which included delivery. Good price IMO once I part it out and sell it off. Really only wanted it for thr SC and 4x4 so can't complain.

Will definitely be sending questions your way. I know with this parts Tacoma being a 2000 and mine being a 2003, some of the parts won't fit. Need to do more digging what to keep and what to toss.

Put the Tacoma on hold over the weekend to throw in a new clutch kit on the girlfriends Jetta. Throwout bearing was shot. Clutch seemed ok.

Couple small additions. Honda spray nozels and hood struts. Struts were a lifesaver when I was doing the Timing belt kit. No more hood prop in the way:D

Tundra brakes are in! Can really tell a difference in braking power after the bedding procedure was completed. Went ahead and painted the dustshields in some extra POR15 I had lying around.

While I had the Tacoma in the garage for the brakes I went ahead and did the Lower Ball Joints so I don't end up on the side of the road, and I'm glad I did! The old ones were pretty shot.

And I spoke too soon. Looks like the rotor pack needs a recoating. I don't think the previous owner ever had this rebuilt in 160k miles.. good thing I have everything else for a proper rebuild here already. Going to be a bit before she goes on the truck.

Aaaand the camper shell find actually wasn't all that great... Spent a lot of time down south in a beach town so lots of rust build up. Girlfriend and I have started stripping it down to save it from its inevitable fate. Will be using all new stainless hardware and remaking all brackets that are not salvageable from stainless steel sheet.

1st phase of new bracketry is completed. Still need to design and make the rear window brackets which actuate the lock. Powdercoated here at home. I think it turned out OK for my first time powdercoating. Went with "BMW Silver". Was what my roommate had lying around at the time.

Windows cleaned and hardware replaced. Thought we were going to be able to replace the mesh covering the windows but looks like it's a custom piece with metal frame. Some fishing line was used to sew up the holes. Will replace eventually.
