Anyone know if a Viofo A129 2K OR 4K will power from the Dongar SimpleUSB? I can't fine any power draw/consumption on them vs what the Dongar will put out.

I tried the Garmin Mini and I wasn't impressed (happy with the size, functionality, and ease of use), I just want a slightly better quality capture.

I don't think so if you are using the rear camera. I got the ODI adapter off of Amazon and it seems to be working pretty well and wasn't a very hard install.

Has anyone tried using the Garmin Constant Power cable? Any reviews on it?

Any suggestions as to how far from the rear view and windshield “black dots” so you don’t see the big black box in the picture as shown on the right side? I only have one more chance with a second mount that came with it. Thanks in advance!

I've been using the Garmin Mini 2 and the simpleusb adapter.....BUT I am having to use the longest cord the Garmin came with because it will not allow the light to go from green to red when using a smaller cord. Even ordered some other small cables to see if it was an issue with mine. Same issue. Garmin suggests if the light stays green to use the longer of the cords(that it thinks it is plugged into a computer). Not sure what the deal is.

I’m using the Dongar adapter with a Rexing v1 4K (front cam only) — no issues to speak of, works as it should. I don’t see why the Viofo wouldn’t work as the Rexing is basically just a cheaper version.

it's so weird. the mini2 won't go from green to red without the longest cord(off of the simpleusb) for me. I ordered those small cables and it still doesn't work. Garmin says green light means its hooked(or thinks it is hooked up to) to a computer...and to use the longest cord if that is the case. hrmmm.

I bought another set(Cerrxian). Pretty much identical...

I actually just ordered these ones to see if they will work. I will find out when they deliver.

Just an FYI, the two cables have different orientations for the micro USB connector.

Random but I've fixed this issue. I actually ordered another simple usb 12 pin. Mine wasn't providing enough power to allow my dashcam to record for some reason. All is good now. Sending the bad one back via Amazon.

Curious... for those of you that have used for whatever reason... is there software you've found that does a good job of zooming in on license plates? Had a moron almost cause an accident today passing in a no-passlane then slamming on his breaks. Have great video of it, but taking a screen shot of the video and then zooming in isn't working...

but really, im pretty sure it depends on what resolution you record in.

you could try opening the video in VLC (my preferred video player of choice) and try zooming in there. youll wanna uncheck the always fit to window before playing with it though.

Thanks. That's definitely better than what i had....

It's in 4K (although as i say that i should check the settings)... but still too grainy. But the zoom is handy.

anyone with a garmin mini know where i can get more of the sticky parts that go on the windshield? had my windshield replaced and the thing doesn't stick to it anymore.

guess i could try scraping whatever is on if off and try double sided tape?

Weird, I wonder if the adapter is bad? I think I recall others on the forum having issues with their units before.

My setup is still working as expected.

Possibly. I was going to use it on my Wife's car with a different camera set up. I am glad it worked for you.
