Getting my solar components together....plus it was a hell of a deal

Yeh, Connie actually called here a couple weeks ago to chat. She used to come in every now and then when she'd go down to Grady's Pizza. She got some stories.....

Not gonna lie, I'm anxiously awaiting for Toyota to release the full data on the new Tundra. Every time I pull a trailer, I get the itch for more power, and the rumors are it'll be a twin turbo v6 with like 400hp and 470ft lbs. Still rumors, of course. But the current gen tundra is rated for 9-10k pounds, and that sounds reeeaally nice.

    Yeah.
Yeah, and rumored to be the same 3.5L currently in the turd gen, just with a couple of spinny bois. Might be a power upgrade path for the Tacoma, lol.

I wouldn't mind that if the new rumored 10-speed is better than what we've currently got. The shift points/tuning were definitely not made with mounting 10-ply tires in mind.

I’m curious about the new tundra also. Not like I’d buy one, but still curious anyway. Coil spring rear suspension sounds awesome. My friends Dodge’s have had that set up for years now and they ride so nice.

It’s cool to think that they will finally have better engine choices. A fuel efficient 6 cyl that makes more power than my little V8 would be legit. I did a fuel economy experiment the other day driving from Austin to Dallas. 200mi nonstop at 65mph I got a record breaking 19.6mpg. Would be nice to get that kind of mileage at a faster clip.

Anyone else running a front diff drop? I've noticed a vibration that sounds like my ABS is trying to activate but only when I'm off road. I've turned my traction control off in an attempt to diagnose the issue with no change. I'm wondering if my diff may be too close to my skid plate. Any one else experience anything like this in your rig?

Get rid of the front diff drop. The problem with those is the first time you hit something with your skid your skids slams into your front diff which is nowhere near as strong as your rear. Plenty of people out there leaking diff oil out of the front after hitting one obstacle and wondering what's happening. You're better off getting high strength CVs from O'Reilly's to handle the angles.

As far as it vibrating or bouncing off your skid plate making the noise, highly likely.

Easy way to see is if the paint is coming off the top of the skid, or take the skid off and see if you get the same noise

I ran CVJ reman CVs on my 1st gen and was so pleased with them that I've put them on my 4th gen 4Runner too.

Check at the sway bar too. On my 1st gen I had a thud when going over bumps and it was the sway bar contacting the skid plate.

Diff drops do get a lot of hate around here. If you just did the ECGS not long ago and had it apart, you might pull the wheels off and check torque specs on everything just to eliminate that variable.

I'm running a diff drop with an RCI skid plate, the skid is designed to accommodate a diff drop without resorting to spacers or anything. I put in the DD after blowing an axle seal, with 2" lift my axles are now straight as stock. I've hit my skid plenty of times since, no worries.
