I just acquired a 5.1 set of Fluance speakers. Has anyone had experience with this brand?

I don't have any of this gear any longer, but in the early 2000's I had a mish mash of the following:

    • Yamaha RV1 surround sound receiver
    • Energy Take 5 set of center channel, front & rear 5.1 series speakers
    • SVS 12" PC-2000 Pro powered woofer 20Hz-(I forget it's top end numbers)
    • Sampson 2 channel, 500W per channel power amp to drive the woofer

I just replaced my Bose 701s(front), 601s(rear), 201s(side surround) with the Fluance brand. Kept the slim line Bose for 2x centre channel though.

Just a bit of it all apart while the cabinets get the big rework. Goin’ through each piece before the install.

I'm a guitar player and constantly watch a particular site, reverb.com. They also sell vintage stereo stuff.
I have seen some really cool vintage recievers go for $10-$15-$20 thousand dollars.

This is about as close as I get to home stereo eqpt. Sometimes I run YT thru my 32 track into my jbl lsr 305's.

This is what my Pyle speakers looked like. I replaced them with more Pyle speakers, but didn't know you could repair them! Whgat kind of adhesive did you use?

Use the glue that came with the kit. I know it looks like plain old white glue but it’s not. Doin’ an old set of 901’s atm. 99% alcohol was hard to find. Take your time.

I've got 2 sets of Makedo speakers. Makedo with what you got. I made both sets many years ago. Sound is fine for my old ears.
The gym speakers are 3/4 particle board, sealed, white paint finish (salvaged speakers from the early 1970's). Living room were built in the early 1990's. Ported, new Pyle 6inch. 30+ year old Denon receiver. There's an Energy sub woofer in the bottom of the left most cabinet. A big hole in the back and about 5 inches from cabinets to wall. Happy with everything. Can't hear well enough to spend thousands on high end equipment. Constraints on room as well.

Grandkids love the Lava lamp (not vintage).

Like FastEddy said, Simply Speakers ships glue with their foam kits that is really good stuff. Definitely give their YT channel a peek before starting and you'll be in a good spot, their videos are really helpful.

The part I found most important is to fully clean the mating surface to give the foam and adhesive the best grip possible. Beyond that, it's just about sucking it up and slicing those nice expensive speakers to pieces! :sawzall:

That’s what I use the alcohol for. Got a scientific supply store that sells all sizes of lab glassware. Got a shallow dish ‘lil bigger than the speaker. One quick dip & it really helps removing the old surround.
