Ya and they may give you are hard time about what you are ordering, everyone and I have talked to felt like they were trying not to sell stuff. Weird experience but I would order from them again.

Sorry if you’ve covered this already but did you simply use the wire connectors from the cig lighter and plug them into the USB charger? That appears to be the case. Going to tackle this mod tomorrow or Saturday.

The cig light has an L shaped connector, you can cut it in half and use that or cut it off and splice a new connector

I weighed pros and cons, I don’t have anything I need standard cigarette lighter for any more, besides I added one in truck bed for compressor etc, I like the look of the USB version, I have purchased a new power port with USB and USB-C ports but I’m trying figure out how put the nut on the backside or did you fasten the new port some other way (glue?)

    I did the same thing.

Take off the radio bezel and you can get the HVAC controls off. You can access the back of the opening to get the nut on from there.

Thank you I’ll try that, I’m working on a 2013, last time I had radio out I was looking for space to get at the built in USB beside power ports and couldn’t reach them but I’ll have another go at it. Previous owner installed a Pioneer unit which didn’t work with OEM USB so it’s just sitting there disconnected.

That doesn’t work in my 2013, there is solid dash framing in the road, either have to go through the complete dismantling of the dash and console or find some attachment method for the new power port, maybe I’ll end up mounting it in the console.

I realize it's been a year but would you have the part you pulled available to post some pictures of what the tabs look like? I don't mind going in blind but would prefer having a better idea of what I need to do.

How did you get the HVAC controls off? Is it just more straight out pulling like the radio bezel?

Yes. You do need to pull out the cover up just left of the push start button (there is a little vent / mic opening). You may or may not need to loosen the radio - I don't usually but might make it easier.

Awesome. I plan on tapping off of the cigarette lighter to add USB charging for my DMM while I replace the cigarette lighter with a USB charging port as well. Figured I'd just do it all at once.

    I updated the post above.

Much better to do it all at once.

One quick note to replacing the cigarette light with a USB, You might need to make the hole larger. A file would work, might get a little messy.

I used a drill file like below. It was pretty quick work, or a dremel

Thanks for all of the info on here! I made this way more complicated than it had to be on my ‘21 TRD OR. Once I realized I could put a flathead screwdriver between the external bezel and the lower dash and twist/pry, this only took a minute and a quick dremmel sanding to hook up.

Did the same.... I was trying to remove the OEM socket without damage and was not having any luck. I ended up just ripping it out and opening up the hole slightly to fit the USB-C adapter.
