Nope, new job has me in Waltham. The business park I'm working in is still at like 10% capacity since a lot of the companies still have their employees working from home so there's TONS of parking. 2 damn near empty parking garages and 2 good size overflow lots. I didn't ask permission but someone would have to be a pretty huge douche nozzle to give me a hard time tomorrow and I'll leave my business card in the window to show I'm one of the people working in the park. No way in hell I'd ever go into Boston with the trailer. I have a hard enough time finding parking for the land yacht, I couldn't imagine trying to get the travel trailer parked down town!
Gotcha, I'd still do it. He's still a hell of a player and entertaining to watch in my opinion.

Mine was also built in 57'. We had all doubled up 3/8 on the exterior walls and almost no insulation. Now there's so much foam in my house I think it would float.

    26, that's it?

Yeesh! I saw some of the pictures out of the city at least, yeah we got some rain here too. Fortunately not like that.

I would! Nice day, nice weather, good teams! If that's an enjoyable thing for you, sounds like a good addition to a vacation!

That sounds ..... yeah sounds right.

 I think East Providence had some intro days today and tomorrow like "welcome to the new high school" days, then starts back full rip Tuesday.

:puke: they're doing road works and shut down my "nice" commute route, the high school is on one of the other routes, there's road works that's jacked up the other route, the ONE route I have that isn't all jacked up right now is on the highway and can be backed up. Shenanigans.

Fortunately, mine is well insulated for the most part. There's fiberglass in the walls and he put foam board on the exterior behind the vinyl siding.

The attic has a lot of vermiculite covered over with fiberglass. When I bought the house Mass Save went up there and said they couldn't touch it because of the vermiculite, but I already had 12+ inches up there anyway.

The only section lacking a little is the family room/mud room addition that I think was done in the 70s along with the garage. The attic space over that has plenty, but I don't think the walls are great. The outlets in that room get really cold.

What did you guys get, I don't think that we got anything more than a lot of rain. I can tell there wasn't much wind because the dead trees next to the house didn't drop any branches.

Just a lot of rain here, thankfully since I'm not too far from the Cape. No downed branches even..every time this happens I thank goodness I got the beech tree cut down this winter

These work well for leaking outlets. Or you could try dumping some canned foam around the outlets but that can cause a mess if you're not careful

I used Great Stuff for all of my outlets. Just make sure you get the low-rise version. I think it’s the Window and Door formula, it doesn’t expand much at all.

The last type I got was for large gaps. I used it for where the line set goes through the wall for that mini split and the expansion had me worried that it may have crushed the condensate hose. Fortunately, it did not!

Yep, that's what we do. Window foam around the outlets and air sealing. Houses don't need to breathe. The inventor of the soffit vents must have started it. But yeah the big gap stuff is crazy. And definitely can make a big mess.

build a house these days ..

step 1) make it as tight as fucking possible
step 2) buy a vent system that brings in fresh air so you don't die in your sleep or get sick

I've got one of those at my house. It takes up so much damn space in the basement. And I don't ever use it.

ditto for cooling warm air in the summer:thumbsup:

I have foam in almost every wall and still don't need makeup air. How can your house be tight enough to need it? Ever been tested? Blower door test?

to me there’s an ideal “right way” to do everything. It’s VERY expensive.

I don’t think those who can’t afford that perfection shouldn’t be allowed to build a home for their family.

I’m for all the insulation a man can afford:)
