New Member 2010 Pre-Runner V6 Access Cab

I've been lurking on this forum for a few years, finding lots of valuable info about our trucks that has been especially helpful in resolving issues and maintaining my Tacoma's. Current truck is my 2nd Tacoma that bought about 5 years ago. It's a low option truck that had 16" steel wheels and 98K miles on it when I bought it from a dealer for $15K. It now has 141K miles on it.

I've been working on cars all my life, so I maintain my vehicles myself when at all possible. I can't even stand to let someone else change my oil. Too many bad mechanics out there.
I occasionally tow my boat or a pop-up camper, so some mods were done to help with that.

Some mods and upgrades that I've done are:
3rd Gen TRD 17" Sport wheels & tires (new takeoffs from a 2018 TRD)
Bilstein 6112's on front (1.5" lift) and 5160's with remote reservoirs on rear (awesome)

Hayden 678 Trans Cooler
Replaced rear leaf springs (TSB recall)
Torch Add-A-Leaf kit
Lund Side step bars & Lund folding tonneau cover
Wet Okole seat covers (Black with carbon fiber inserts)

For an old truck, she's running and looking pretty good.

Welcome. Truck looks great! How do you like the suspension upgrade? I'm considering new shocks and was thinking about the Bilsteins.

oneikr: The Bilsteins are awesome.........they transformed my truck from a bouncy, harsh ride to a smooth, controlled ride that absorbs large holes and ruts with ease. They look great too. They are very expensive, and I probably would not have bought them at retail, but my son-in-law worked for Bilstein in Ohio at the time and he got them for cost with his employee discount. The only issue he warned me about was they were getting a lot of customer complaints about the zinc plating rusting very quickly. I cleaned and prepped them and sprayed on multiple coats of clear brake caliper enamel before I installed them. They have been on the truck for almost 3 years, and they still look great.
