So I have 6 tires total. 4 on the sport wheels but 2 need to be replaced.( You would need to get them mounted and balanced.
All matching wildpeak at3 265/70/17 balanced and tpms were working. Lots of life left in them...I went bigger and have no room. Yours if want them sir.

    THIS! Too fast =
    HowNotToDrive_sm.jpg

I drive in 4wheel almost all winter (6+ months), city & some highway driving. Still take it slow.

Titanium studs are great, but IMO, the best ice & snow tire ever made was the Goodyear F32. Had a set of 4 on a weightless old Elcamino one-wheel-wonder that could stop on a dime on icy intersections. Same with a little front wheel drive car I had - went everywhere. Have never found a comparable replacement since they quit making 'em. For some reason my Blizzaks - with 4 wheel drive - act like skates on slick spots. o_O

How old are the Wildpeak tires?

This weekend I tried something Scotty Kilmer recommended by apply AT-205 re-seal to my rubber coolant hoses and the rubber components under the Tacoma, which seems to be doing what he said it would, by rejuvenating the rubber. While I was under there I checked the wiring going to the actuator, pressing on the connectors and tapping on it a few times with my palm. I switched it from 2hi to 4hi before starting it and the 4-wheel drive light started blinking, then it engaged, so I took it for a spin in a grass field, switching from 4hi to 2hi back and forth a few times, then from 4hi to 4lo, with everything seeming to be working normally.

I just read a thread that describes what I have been experiencing, two tiny prongs on either side of the actuator motor loosen enough to cause it to fail, and what people have been doing to remedy it with success is to just solder the connections.

I think what happened to cause mine to fail is going over a bump on the repaving project on Rt. 1 in Danvers, they remove old pavement in segments, and where they stopped they would kind of ramp it with new pavement so the step up would be drivable. I think they forgot to do the one segment I hit because it felt like going over a curb at 50 mph, after that is when it wouldn't engage, so I think it caused those 2 actuator connections to loosen.

Here is the thread if you or anyone you know experiences the same actuator connection failure: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/how-to-trouble-shoot-4x4-actuator.263525/

2wd will handle the snow and ice fine. I had no issues here in tx and we're not built or equipped to handle any snow or ice. Just know the roads your gonna take, plan far in advanced and leave yourself lots of room for delayed reaction from the snow and ice.

Free fix is a sweet fix! And as one who knows people in the Danvers area, I couldn't agree more

I think another good jolt might send my actuator back to failure mode, with a real fix as stated in that thread I linked is soldering those 2 connectors that seem to loosen over time, but until then I might just leave it as it is and when it does fail again, to solder the connection.

I don't know how people drive Rt. 1 every day, with all the stores and the speed cars travel it can be a white-knuckle experience at certain times and areas.
