Went on a 4x4 trip this weekend and pan temps reached 210 degrees at one point. Seems kinda hot. Converter got up to 230. And the pan temps were around 195-200 on the freeway.

    Anyone install an aftermarket cooler?

by Design..... the transmission fluid is "cooled" by engine coolant... which is about 200-220... so your readings while four wheeling were well within spec.... it doesn't need a cooler..
but I have heard that if you chop up your fuel lines and install a fuel heater you get better gas mileage because the gas doesn't have to heat up as much before it ignites....

I recently started monitoring my temp. It isn’t 220 for sure. Mine is steady at 185.

Probably the pan temp. What’s the other one reading and what are you using to read the temps?

I am monitoring the ex converter sensor as well as the pan temp sensor. They have both been under 200F constantly and basically stabilize around 185F. The ex converter sees occasional spikes of 195F. But either way, I was looking to add a cooler, but it seems like the factory fluid temps under my driving conditions are completely fine. I will test further under triple digit heat + uphill etc. It was around 85-90F so it wasn't "THAT" warm.

Also 170-190F are optimal operating temps for the transmission as far as I can tell by going through numerous readings on the topic. 230F+ is to be avoided

Pretty normal for this truck. Imo, don't fuck with it. It's a rabbit hole.
