I definitely understand the temptation to upgrade-upgrade-upgrade. I guess I just feel as if this specific generation bump is huge, especially for myself on long drives (lane-trace-assist, better ride quality with coil-over suspension and stiffer frame, more comfortable seats). My girlfriend has a 2019 RAV4 with lane-trace-assist. Driving her car 5 hours feels like nothing. Driving my Tacoma that same amount is very tiring.

Your Tacoma has a lot of life left in it. Try to hold out for the 2028 Tundra.

Cool. I like the bike-to-work part! I’d sell it if you don’t need a truck right now. It’s a good time to sell.

Right now it is hard to find a vehicle due to production. Next year I expect same thing or worse. The following year they will still be in short supply since they got behind in production and don't have enough production capability to make up. I don't expect to get a vehicle as cheap as the past possibly ever with inflation.

yeah, gotta hate an engine used in like 4 vehicles in our country that’s proven to go 200k with needing nothing.

Wuss!! How can you tire out after 5 hours?

We have baby boomers driving big rigs fcross country for hours on end.
No wonder the boomers see younger folks as delicate flowers.

There will always be something better in the pipe. Half the country chases that next greatest thing which is why so many are in financial difficulty. Personally, this is the last IC car/truck I plan to own bacause it is likely the last generation of Tacoma with a MT. If I need more power I will slap a couple turbos on it.

I have no regrets about buying my 2016 even though had to have the dealer adjust a few things. I like the new look.

If you have to ask, sounds like you should sell.

I'm very happy that my 2017 doesn't have all that safety sensor crap on it. Also happy they discontinued my Quicksand color. Looking to grow old, with mine....

And they are wimps compared to riding in a wagon train on stiff wooden wheels behind a horse. They just don't make people like they used too.

2021 still has the same gutless drive train, at least 2016 has a transmission cooler, among other things that disappeared in later models like the bed sorage box

I am probably going to sell mine. I have always wanted a GX460 and right now I can get one for about $40-$44k with around 30k miles. Which is what I could sell my truck for.

Never buy a major model change the first year or two it comes out--let others find the problems.
If you sell, what would you get? What if there are no vehicles available for 1 or more years? My DCLB OR got rear-ended this week. If it is totaled, right now there are only four of those available from 5 dealers across a 180 mile spread of Kansas.

Good point on making sure I have a replacement vehicle available. I'll confirm with the dealership. Probably shouldn't worry too much about it, just hesitant about buying a cap for my truck which is a less common color.

For the model change, I looked into the 2016 Tacoma and didn't run across many issues?

the new turbo tundras will be squeezing a lot of power from a 3.5L engine.
will the trade off be shorter engine life?
i had a 87 turbo toyota truck that would eat heads (electrolysis) and blow gaskets regularly.
rated at only 135 hp it had half the hp as the new taco.

i still might go and check out the tundra when it gets here.
i wonder what the price and mpg will be
