Toyota charges around $900 for it. Is it worth getting?

You can get your whole front end done hood, lights, mirror covers, A pillar and fenders with Xpel for 1500 in my area which is a much better quality and more coverage/protection than Toyota will provide unless they do the whole truck for that price.

$900 for partial coverage with trash out-of-date 3M film that will yellow in 5 years. I'd get quotes from local shops for full front wraps (including A-Pillars, mirrors, and roof line) using modern films and make a decision from there what's worth it to you.

I work for a PPF installer in the Denver, CO area and can confirm the dealership option is lesser quality film with even worse coverage. Often times they don’t include the front bumper, just partial hood and fender coverage. For the full front end (door edges forward) you can’t expect anywhere from $1500-2000 from shops around the country that do quality work and most warranties lasting 10 years. We specifically use Xpel and are able to precut everything off the vehicle as not to risk damaging paint by cutting on the vehicle. And we wrap all edges where possible for a clean install so it doesn’t look like film is on the vehicle. I recommend doing some shopping around your area, asking to see examples of their work on cars in the shop, ask is the shop stands behind their install work, and verify if they hand cut the film or use templates. Generally speaking, you get what you pay for in this industry.

I have xpel on my truck and have had it on my previous two vehicles. It is very much needed in the Denver area and nearby mountains.

Do you guys have any trouble when their is a decal/graphic on the hood? I don't want to cover over it because it with turn the matte to a shinny color. also was told the machine that pre cuts for a 2021 TRD Pro doesn't include full hood graphic I have and they would have to hand cut if I don't want graphic covered and there will be a tiny line because the Xpel will be sitting on the edge of graphic which is 2mils and the Xpel is 8mils
    sorry to hijack

I can check patterns when I get into work. Shoot me a message to remind me tomorrow. If the patterns are good, they should do gloss on the paint and stealth (satin) on the hood decals to keep the finishes correct. Unless you just didn’t want the decals covered at all.

thanks I appreciate that. this is the decal. They say they only have it in the computer for the middle part if that makes sense. I assume its one piece so I don't know if they can do stealth on top of decal because their will be to seems meeting together ?

So it looks like the software has patterns for the decal but appear to just cover the entire decal, not cut specifically for each black piece. So the decal and the painted areas in the between would all be covered under one price. Not ideal from a looks standpoint. Based on that limitation, you could either just film over those areas with stealth (satin), which wouldn’t look terrible by any means, or you could remove the existing decal, film the entire hood with gloss, and then purchase a new decal to put over the film. Since not all trd pros came with this decal, I don’t imagine Xpel correcting or adding more detail to those patterns.

So, xpel files shows at least the main decal behind the scoop but doesn't actually cut it into the pattern?

It has the overall pattern, just not cut into individual pieces like to shows on the hood. The entire decal would have separate coverage than the rest of the hood. To me, it seems Xpel got lazy and didn’t do the separate pieces.

    Quality PPF definitely worth it.
