I know this will be confusing to describe... hopefully my diagram will help. I have not shown fuses and battery just to keep it simple.

I have primary LED's that energize with ignition switch on.
I have a second set of LED's that energize only with a switch on the dash.

I would like to be able to flip the switch on the dash and turn on the secondary LED's while simultaneously turning off the primary LED's.

    So...

Dash switch on: primary LED's off, secondary LED's on
Dash switch off: primary LED's on, secondary LED's off

What I can best describe that I am looking for is a relay that works in reverse. A relay that when energizes opens and shuts of 12v to the primary LED's.

Is there such a relay? I doubt "relay" is the correct name for such a component... but a device that opens when 12v is applied.

I am lacking the terminology to even Google what I might need or to find a solution.

    Thanks...

Terminal 30 to 12v ign (high current), 87a to primary, 87 to secondary. 85 to ign through switch ( low current) , 86 to ground

That's how I'd do it (except I would do 86 to switch, 85 to ground if you are using a relay with a diode parallel to the coil). What you are look for is usually referred to as a Single Pole, Double Throw (SPDT) or NO/NC. Do these need to be waterproof?

Thanks for the quick responses... was hoping it was something relatively simple.

I will give your suggestions a try.

It is pretty simple... The 5 terminal relays have an output, that switches the 5th terminal off, when its energized, and on when power is off. i.e. it does the opposite of a regular 4 wire relay.
