Hey guys. In late April next year, I am driving out to Vegas for a couple days for a conference, then planning a 2 week trip through Utah, then eventually back to Georgia. Planning on Zion to Moab. No hardcore offroading, just sight seeing and exploring with the wife. Any places in particular I should stop and explore, remote camping? Ditching my 4Runner and picking up a 2021 Tacoma Offroad next week. Might have a teardrop camper with me. We had discussed Yellowstone, but we're going to save that for a trip on it's own.

I am a big fan of the Boulder and Escalante areas as well as the BLM roads through the Staircase. Plenty of areas to camp on the BLM roads. In April you can still catch some weather and many of these roads turn to shit when they get wet. I spend a lot of time exploring the area on highway 12 between Bryce and Boulder, with an emphasis on the stretch between Escalante and Boulder.

On the west side of Zion there are areas to camp outside of Virgin and on the surrounding mesas, as well as up on Kolob Terrace....again, mind your routes as some become hard to traverse in wet weather.

If you were going later (or the winter is mild), the Kaibab forest is also one of my favorite camping spots.

Drop me a PM and I'll send you a list of good spots....just let me know if you are looking to hit Zion or are up to exploring some less "touristy" locations.

Trying to stay away from the touristy spots. We probably will spend a day in Zion, wife wants to do the Narrows.

Narrows in April? Plan on renting a dry suit. There's a number or rental places in Springdale. Water levels might be high. Depends on Winter and spring temps.

Pay the money for the Gaia GPS app, well worth it. Has all the national geo maps, BLM, FS, etc. Look at the Burr trail in UT, used to be a jeep trail but now it’s paved, incredible. There’s 4x4 side trails but be prepared as some are a flash flood death trap.
