I got another quote today and they were even higher. $480 per square. Now that’s insane. That guy better have a back up plan b/c no one will pay that.

Much sympathy and blessings your way… I can still smell it all in my refrigerator. ZEP Industrial Vinegar is da bomb, but it can’t perform all miracles. Going to try the charcoal/baking soda trick as my last resort. Going to need a window/framer dude to fix our rain leak.

If I was to use standardized breakdowns, they’re saying they pay their guys $100/hr. I seriously doubt that. Sounds like pure greed in overhead.

Contractor friend told me today in conversation that going rate seems to be ~$320/SQ for replacement right now. Hope that helps get you ballpark to negotiate from.

I wish it was that price. None of the local roofers are even taking any calls now. Plenty of contractors from Texas. My insurance company is paying a ridiculous amount of $450 per square for a turn key job. Every company is saying all lead vent covers, flashing, drip edge, and valleys must be replaced when the roofing is changed. Mine are in excellent condition, I don't see why I should replace them. The insurance company is what drives these prices now. Crazy and shameful at the same time.

Disgusting what the prices have gone up to, even prior to Ida. One of my new neighbors says the price for his roof that got installed 2 months ago shot up by 5 grand just at the beginning of 2021! I shudder to think about what a metal roof will cost when my roof kicks the bucket...

Thought this would be little better understood here, instead of the regular pic thread.

    …and there it went.

Seriously though, they all are having continuous trouble. It’s anybody’s guess what today’s issues are with ATT/Cox/charter/Eatel/Spectrum… I’ve been all over the place and it’s a mess. Spent most of the week driving over cables strewn everywhere. I truly feel for those in lower Lafourche and Terrebonne as it matches what I saw in Mississippi after Katrina. Lower Jefferson/Lafitte is a sad place.

On the humorous side, I think god hates mobile homes, hotels, and anything made of sheet metal.
Perhaps we should bundle all this tree debris like the Christmas Trees and use it as reef rebuilding?

My in-laws are in Lafitte, and it really is that bad. I'm hoping that they'll get their house raised in the near future, but it was already delayed prior to the storm.

On the internet front, I'm really glad that the services in Baton Rouge made it like they did, but I'm trying to make my homestead as storm/emergency-resistant as possible with Starlink and a generator setup, among other things.

Hey guys, I’m looking for a reputable mechanic in the Lafayette area. I’m working in AZ, and my daughter is in college at ULL. She called me complaining of a noise her 2010 TRD OR 4x4 is making. The way she described it, sounds like a wheel bearing but I can’t be sure.

anybody know of a good shop in Lafayette?

And now our internet is gone again.
They came hook up a portable generator to charge the battery pack for the system. Maybe tomorrow.

Baton Rouge has Southern Style Offroad, they make Toyota armor and can do installs of most suspension or off-road doodads
