That is indeed quite impressive for California. I had AAA insurance for several years before I was able to join USAA (once they opened up membership from Officers or Retired only, to ANY Veteran), and they were over $1000/year for full coverage on my then 2001 Dodge 2500 and 2004 Harley Sportster. I also had my home owners insurance through AAA at the time. I lived in same rural area in northern CA that I still live in.

Price is moot if people dont list their specifics. "Full coverage" is also pretty moot with low liability and high deductibles. Can't really compare apples to apples

It all depends on the adjuster you get, whether you and them mesh or have a personality conflict, and which side of the bed they got up on that day. I am serious as cancer.

Keeping your stuff in a condition that exhibits "Pride of Ownership" help keep your settlement higher. Clean those Quarter Pounder boxes out of your rear floorboard.

    Did anyone switch to Nationwide?
I have StateFarm but got an email saying Toyota partners with nation wide to receive a discount with their smart ride. Seems my coverage and deductible would be better

    $184.33 a month - full max coverage - Progressive

2021 Tacoma V6 W4D AC ( financed will pay off in 2 years or less )
    2017 Subaru Forester (paid off)
    2004 Corolla ( way paid off )

When I sold the Jeep Patriot and bought the Tacoma I expected a rise in insurance, but to my
surprise it actually went down about $20 a month.

Am I paying way too much?

I always remember being so broke when we moved to NC in 1996, that we had to find a cut-rate insurance place. The place we found was named for the owner, like Bob Smith Insurance or something. Had to pay cash and he made change from his wallet. It got us an insurance card, but we prayed we never got I to a wreck as I’m sure it would not have been good.
Anyways, we pay $80-90/month here. Two drivers, one vehicle and 15,000 miles/year.

Located in Los Angeles, have been using State Farm for the past 12 ish years. Just a few speeding tickets all cleared with traffic school. I pay about $400 for the Taco, A3 and Scion iA. Full coverage for all 3. We also have renter's insurance with the $400

No accidents other than that one time I rear ended someone who had a brand spanking NEW mercedes cause they stopped so abruptly in front of me in traffic. Anyway she came out her car and demanded I pay her cash right then and there cause she DIDNT have insurance and was also on some temporary license.

My educated guess: New vehicle shortages and the rise of inflation prevent as much revenue generated by insurance companies since less people will feel the need to upgrade paying the Covid taxes (and paying the high premiums on new vehicles). Thus raising the cost of average premiums so businesses can keep operating. I truly hope I am wrong though.

If it was just a matter of the total value of autos insured, I’d think the massive inflation in the value of existing vehicles would go a long way to offsetting.

One factor I can think of is many companies were discounting premiums because everyone was driving less due to COVID. If that hasn’t gone away yet for your policy, it will.

Edit, I’m pretty dumb today. Repair cost is going way up. Materials, labor, total repair time. That’s it. Simple.
