    Hey there Tennessee,

The wife and I are thinking about buying some retirement land a bit early. I’ve been considering Arkansas, Tennessee, and Kentucky mostly.

Just wondering if anybody has some experience with the land and living in Tennessee they’d be willing to share. In particular, outside of Nashville or over towards Gatlinburg. We’re thinking of anything between 15 acres and 150 acres. For the next 10-15 years it would be getaway land, or perhaps plop a pre fab cabin down for week getaways. Somewhere between 10 and 15 years we’d probably build our retirement home on it.

Feel free to respond here or dm.

    Hey RushT,

My wife and I just did the exact same thing. Came up last Oct to check out properties in Cookeville and Crossville. We found both too busy, and both are growing fast. We ended up finding a house that was less than a year old on 28 acres in Livingston TN. We are about 1 1/2 hrs from both Nashville and Knoxville, just north of I-40. Gave us the country living we were looking for and convenient to Cookeville, and a reasonable drive to Nashville and Knoxville. Not sure where you are in TX, but we are from San Antonio. It's a major change I can tell you. One really nice thing is that my annual property taxes here are about what I was paying per month in SA. We too were looking for land and had about a 5 year plan to eventually build and move. However, the people who built this place were actually from Fredricksburg TX and decided not to move here because of a family issue, so we saw this place on our last day of land hunting and fell in love with it. Made the move in Jan of 21. If you want to chat more or have specific questions, feel free to DM me.
