Are the headlights on the SX black chrome instead of plain chrome like on the SR?

Totally agree. Toyota’s styling is off the rails for me, too Transformer/Cylon/Machismo for me. Seriously considered a Ranger because the styling is a bit more subdued, but didn’t want a turbo long term. That and after owning Toyota’s for the last 30 years, why change now? So yeah I am one of those long time fan that puts up with the styling, see it only getting worse. Do like the the interior though, somewhat reminiscent of the early 80s trucks, since it is more horizontal and squared off than bulbous of previous gens.

At the end of the day looks don’t matter just need a reliable appliance.

I am loving my SR. I dig the slick look.

Looking forward to building it up myself.

Already threw on sliders and rear bumper.

I am saving for a front bumper and looking for time to install the 5100s sitting on my workbench

The only difference is the side by the amber marker is black instead of chrome. It's a minor thing but it made a big difference to me. The basic SR headlamps are CHROME.

Still gonna upgrade them eventually, but it helped me hold it off for awhile. With my truck especially, I have so much black and tan that chrome just looks out of place.

Yeah it breaks it up a little bit. All black would look pretty sharp though.

Here’s the pro BHLM on my SR. Changes the whole front end in my opinion.

i still can’t believe this wasn’t the standard spec... likely would’ve saved them money—leaving them black without another stage for plastic “chrome” coating.

Yeah I’m not sure why either, I guess they need something to separate the trims and save the more aggressive look for the pros. Definitely worth the $500 I spent for the mod.

The only truck style out there that hasn't gone full transformers style is Ram :crapstorm:, was really hoping the new Tundra would have kept some nice soft sweeping body lines but I digress

The Rams aren’t too bad, couldn’t bring myself to own a Chrysler/Fiat product though.

Too bad the Tundra didn’t get the LC 300 front end, the GR Sport isn’t too terrible. I’ll probably upgrade to a Tundy when I fully retire to pull a TT, gawd knows what they’ll look like in 10 years…

I finally decided on the tires to mount on the offroad wheels I found for cheap. I bought the wheels with the intent to mount MT tires but realized I won't be off roading enough to warrant MT tires.

I decided on a quality set of highway tires that were highly rated in the wet and snow. We don't get enough snow to need full on winter tires but I wanted an all season tire that would come close.

I purchased and had mounted Continental Terrain Contact HT's in 265/70-16. I wanted to go 75's but they didn't come in 75's.

I have Bridgestone Revo 3's AT on the SX wheels so now I can swap on the Continental's for winter or long highway trips.20211016_095708.jpg 20211016_095719.jpg

Those Conti’s are supposed to be really good. Have been meaning to try a set. I used to run an aggressive AT, or MT for years and years. As I age, kinda over it want something that rolls nice and returns halfway decent fuel economy. Find myself looking for something in between a full on street and an AT. Have been running Yokohama G015 on my old truck they seem to hit that sweet spot. Do run down a lot of FS roads, but my hard core wheeling days are over. Rather do the hard stuff on motorcycles anymore.

Here in Idaho we get a bunch of snow and ice, usually run a studded tire, going to try some Blizzaks this go around. Wanted a set of black steelies with holes, can’t remember what the code is on those, but they are on back order. https://www.roadreadywheels.com/products/2005-2020-16x7-toyota-tacoma-steel-wheel-rim

Found some 5 spoke steelies to hold me over until those come in.

    lol! exactly!

The headlights on the 3rd Gen are a little doofy looking to me no matter what color they are. Oh well, nice to have a new truck regardless. Don’t have to look at them when I am driving.

i get why people would get the package TSS or SX (which ever it is) but if you are going to replace the lights, Wheels/rims, etc it makes little sense.
