I've never tried, but honestly I feel like I could pull the cap open at the tailgate end lol. Definitely with a flat bar, no problem. That being said, you'd have to mangle it somehow and that might grab someone's attention so I think it's secure enough. I don't store my gold ingots back there anyway.

I'm not entirely sure, but it may depend on if it had actually been leaking or not. I hadn't noticed a problem with mine, so looks like they may have added some kind of sealer and put the plastic piece on top. Unfortunately I don't have a PN.

I been traveling so i havent had a chance to ask. A couple weeks ago i took my spare down to swap for a bigger tire. When i took down the tire i noticed pretty substantial indents on the sidewall from where the tire was pushed against the frame. Anyone have this same issue. No i dont have pics unfortunately

Yep, cost me all of $6 to do something similar. Why people spend 40 bucks for a pre cut hose and fitting is beyond me. #forums

I just got rid of the tire. no sense of trying to sell it or whatever pretty crappy. I need to figure out what to do or put under there to prevent it happening with the new spare

While they are expensive from DesertDoesIt it doesn't give a scam artist the right to rip off the intellectual property and so blatantly steal from the company that designed it initially. It takes big balls to even steal the pictures off their website while selling it.

Plenty of people can improve on the design or offer a cheaper one but theft is still theft and I wouldn't support some shady ass company in China that is just ripping off everyone else's IP. Their site is just full of cheap ass knock offs....

The original product includes the cost of R&D plus paying for American labor. Im not super familiar with the product or warranty but my guess is they stand by their product.

The chinesium product is cheaper because they blatantly stole everything, from the design to the pictures off the website,
and they use borderline slave labor.

I am curious to see what those "grade 8" bolts will do in an accident, as well as what toyotas warranty and your auto insurance would do if those bolts sheared off in a wreck causing the seat to dislodge and injure its occupant.

    So congrats I guess.

Personally, if I cannot afford to buy the Original Designer / American made product, then I cant afford it.

If I was going to bolt cheap shit to my truck I would buy that hyundai fake truck

ETA: If you like small businesses coming out with innovative products that address very specific issues on your specific vehicle and want them to continue to do so, it does not make sense to give money to the folks stealing their ideas and market

Because the day $40 to support someone doing something cool breaks me is the day I know I've fucked up somewhere else..big time.
