How would this compare to a 40” S8 as far as beam pattern and spread. I see that the S8 has slightly more lumens but know that’s not the only important factor.

The two big factors versus the lumen output are reflector size and adjustability. The S8/S2/Squadron series all use our smaller reflector,, versus the larger reflector seen in the XL, OnX6, and LP series lights. The main difference is just the zones in which the reflectors are attacking. The larger reflector of the XL linkable is going to be a bit more of a distance oriented design. You'll still get nice spill light for fill, but it will be a tighter pattern than the smaller reflectors of the S8, which actually have an advantage in the near and midfield.

The other primary difference is the adjustability and customizability of the XL linkable. Each light on the linkable array is vertically and horizontally adjustable, and you have a bit more ability to customize your wiring (dual, tri power control) and mix and match your lens options.

Awesome! Just received mine! With the center bracket support does that mean you can only run this in a straight configuration? Thanks for the help!

Nice! Ordered some around Black Friday. Playing the waiting game right now. Hopefully wait isn’t too bad. Will go with an 30” S8 in driving combo in the bumper.

That’s exactly what I have in my bumper now and they match well. Debating switching to amber combo lenses for the S8

Nice that’s what I went with. Everything below headlights will be amber and above will be clear. SAE fogs for reg driving and my old squadrons in wide cornering. Should cover all the zones well and still have good low light dust performance.

Really like the looks and functionality of the linkable 7 pod light bar. Installed yesterday came out great had it temporarily wired. No open switches on my switch pro trying to figure out how i want to run another switch.

Looking for something to complement what I am already running:
    - 20” OnX6 bumper mount
    - 2 squadron pro fogs bumper mount
    - 2 squadron pro A-piller ditch lights

Was planning on the OnX6 40” to add some longer reach up top until I saw the 7 XL, really prefer the look; However, the OnX6 is putting out much more light from what I can tell…is there something special about the lens or reflectors in the 7 XLs that would enhance their performance compared to the OnX6?

you do have pros and onyx so pretty bright already. The linkable is made of 3 spot 2 driving combo and 2 wide cornering for a nice spread. I just installed but haven’t given it a good test yet.

    Hello Njoffroad,
nudavinci64 is correct, the 7xl linkable comes with 3 spot 2 driving combo and 2 wide cornering; The reason being it offers a better blend of light and helps reduce potential hot spots. A big concern with mounting light that high is the reflection or glare produced by the hood, but with the 7xl it is long enough so it becomes less of a worry having wide cornering light patterns.

    Hello Windmill Road,

A major positive of the 7xl is the ability to adjust and tailor the lights independently. With the amount of light you already have, the linkable can be nice because it allows you to independently adjust the vertical pitch up to 45 degrees and has completely independent horizontal adjustment. This can help complement others lights because you can tailor it to areas you feel are in need of more light.

    In regards to performance:

The 7xl uses our "sport boards" which produce 3100 lumens and has a little smaller LEDs but it draws less power. (Amperage Rating 14)

The OnX6 has bigger brighter LED that produce more intense light but will draw alot more power. (Amperage Rating 26.8 (High); 22.4 (Low))
The light distance will be similar, however the light intensity will be different.
    Best,
    Brock Brunkhorst

I was focused on performance and completely missed the Amp draw difference. Appreciate the detailed response, much more to consider.
