I really like this simple design. Only thing I would miss is the seat backs being able to contain objects in the cubby.

Man these rear deck ideas are awesome! Some of you guys have some serious DIY skills. I removed the bottom seats from my truck the beginning of the summer to gain more interior storage for a long camp trip. (I'm too tall to just have them folded down.) I've yet to put them back in. Haha. This is what it currently looks like back there.

I really like the level surface it provides and since I never really have passengers in the back seat I'm gonna have to steal some ideas from this thread.

FYI, even the largest seat fits in a 33 gallon trash bag for long term storage. Double plus with the minty smell! Lol

One thing I forgot to mention, if you do fold your seats down for any period of time, check where the seat buckles are. I failed to check and left the buckles in the little pouches on the seat and I'm afraid my cushions are permanently remolded now. :frusty:

The best way would be to get a spot weld cutter drill bit, and drill out the spot welds holding the metal box to the body. This would at least give you the option of spot welding the whole thing back in. Less permanent than saw zawing the box sides away

I already had the deck out to clean up and that got me curious. Took out the plastic box. 10 spot welds hold the front side metal bracket to the truck floor, and 4 spot welds hold it on the side/back bracket. This is a totally plausible idea and I may do it....after a think and a drink lol

i totally hear you. a drawer in that area would be very rad indeed. not that it's needed, but i support this design 100 percent. cut those spot welds and your off and running! can't wait to see how it turns out.

Try using a hair dryer or heat gun on low to remove the indent. Works on leather...

Don’t have any good pics of mine but here’s a YouTube video I did of it. I opted to use starboard and keep the rear cubbies in.

I love the idea of using a bed liner for the floor all together but I feel the cab would be EXTREMELY louder. It’s pretty noticeable with the seats out as it is.

Thats a good idea. I wonder if I'd need to remove the actual seat material to heat the cushion itself?

For the foam may also try warm water if the heat gun isn't working. I used a heat gun on indents in the leather of my e46 m3 and it got most out. Just have to go slow, takes a minute or two of applying heat before it goes back to normal

Awesome, thanks for the tips. If I ever get around to actually folding my seats back up I'll definately apply some heat to em!

wanted to share that for anyone looking for a rubber mat to keep on the surface of their seat delete, i found this one on Amazon.
i bought the 3/8" thick mat as i thought 1/2" would be a bit much. the 3/8" can be trimmed to size and does a great job to keep things
from sliding around on the surface of the seat delete. the other mats that i found either wouldn't ship to my location, were pricey, or dimensions didn't make sense.

Just about done with my 2nd gen DC rear-seat delete. I'm adding some 1.5 in. nylon webbing to the bottom / side of the storage doors so I have something to pull them up with. Will likely add a couple large Grey Man Tactical MOLLE panels to the rear wall at some point.

Heavily inspired by OP and Goose Gear.

I was just considering putting a solid hdpe board on that back wall and then remounting my MOLLE panel with offsets. Is that what you're doing?
