I just use cheap salt. Never hardly ever get my iron pans wet.

    Cast iron Chainmail scrubber FTW.

we have 1 -15” cast iron pan that gets used 1-2 times a year. We always start from scratch and end up scrubbing it out with the chainmail scrubber before starting the cooking process all over again from seasoning the pan with fresh thick cut bacon.

I am not doing a kitchen remodel right now but storing away ideas for when it happens because I’m not in love with the layout of my kitchen, and the dishwasher always gets in my way!

I will say, the single large sink is nice- no pot too big, even the turkey fryer pot.

Hey @OZ-T , do you have a floor plan you can post for this house? So far it looks outstanding and I'd love a look at the layout.

For you guys using 2P-10. Does the aerosol activator leave any visible residue on stain grade wood?

    Chainmail scrubber arrived yesterday: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B08LKCVBCM?ref=ppx_yo2_dt_b_product_details

Should have bought this LONG ago. Works great on stainless as well. Dried on bread dough in stainless bowls, other deposits, just gone, no chemicals and frankly light scrub compared to various pad type scrubbers.

Just double checked and of course the model I have doesn't have the compatible base. Thank you for the heads up though.

What's the best way to remove linoleum glue? Finding the screws is easy enough but digging them out is another story. Whole thing is getting cut out so I'm not worried about damaging it.

You going down to subfloor? I assume that since you are taking out screws?

Electricians - do I need to tear out sheet rock to re-wire a house?

House is 1950s build and current wiring has no gound. Wanting to add a range hood vent and gfci to restrooms also.

Not necessarily. You can run a ground wire, does not need to with a wire bundle.

You may need cut some holes, maybe cut and patch some sections of sheet rock. But what you mention is in the realm of DIY.
Slab? Access via crawl or attic?

Is there a ground rod outside the box? Is panel box grounded?

Ground slab with Attic. There is a grounding rod. Panel was updated (looks like 20 years ago). A couple newer receptacles seem to be added also that do have ground.

What’s the smaller box to the right of the panel called? I do have 2 spaces left in the panel

My main goals are adding 1 bath room vent, adding hood range vent and hardwired smoke alarms and gfci

I think they are usually called a sub-panel. I could be wrong though.

I would say check your local electrical codes and see if you need a second ground rod. Some places require a second rod connected to the first one but 6’ away. Just a code issue there.

That open box looks like it’s just a junction boy. Possibly an old sub panel at one time but all the guts are missing.
If I were doing it, and they were close enough to one another, I would tie the bath fan and kitchen hood fan to one breaker and use the other for the smokies. The gfci you can use existing outlet and run a ground to it. Just add a gfci outlet.

Not sure how electrical savy you might be but if it was me, I would take out that junction box and install a new sub panel in its place. This would give you plenty of new places for additional circuits and all you’d need on the old panel is a big breaker to feed the new sub panel.
