If you have a Tactrix OpenPort 2.0, you can download the Techstream software and do the update. If you've been playing with Subaru's you probably have one already..

 

indeed I do have a Tactrix. I do mostly open source tuning with some cobb. Is the factory image downloadable somewhere? Sorry for all the questions.

 

Hey guys, what is a good muffler option you'd recommend? The truck is catless short tubes, catless y pipe tied to a 3" pipe with a pretty large magnaflow, and it gets pretty raspy in the 3-4k rpm range.

Pretty much the same thing I'm running.. I just have an extra Resonator (Vibrant) before the Magnaflow. Helped... but there's still some rasp. kinda the game with going catless. I've gotten used to it.

 

the cure for rasp is a balanced y-pipe, lots of cab sound deadening, or loud audio system. i myself have all 3.

 

just found a small local car dealer that also does wrenching. went for alignment but learned a bunch.
the techs are all retired military mechanics that have hotrods. they had attention to detail on mods you cant see and i didnt even disclose. score! getting some of my mod pile installed for x-mas! example- they will install my pulleys for 120$ out the door. awesome!!

 

This.. the stereo is the biggest factor. Lol Same here... Just crank it up.

 

i said like what? he replied- this was a manufactured offroad yota, it had an 8" rear. this is an 8.4 i bet you went trutrac. am i right? you left a note saying dont flash computer. youre on hp tune buddy, right on.

even the best fosgate/jl audio cant stiffle the s/c whine so im good.

I have long tubes but had the same problem between 2400-2700 rpms. It was a rasp/rattle sound. I was told to do 1 or 2 resonators before your muffler. I did 2 and it is now 99% better. Just something to think about…..

 

I’ve been wanting to give one of these a try. I love their resonators. I bet their mufflers are good quality too.

So it does have a resonator on each of the y pipe tubes. And dynomat. And a infinity system with 2, 12" subs. The rasp is pretty ridiculous. It was manageable until the rear seats were removed.

 

I've found that no dealerships in SoCal will flash the TRD tune, even the one I used to work at during high school. I am installing a S/C soon and plan to get the TRD tune from one of the guys @JustDSM uses in my area. Probably a custom tune later one with HP Tuners

 

Mine was pretty bad too. It was entirely exhaust related.

 

Also a shot in the dark to anyone who may know or could measure it:

Bolt size for the single bolt that holds the intercooler to the S/C lid? I tried the local hardware store and the m7x1.00 was close but not right. I happen to be missing that one since the old owner removed it thinking it was a lid bolt
Also found that out after trying to tighten that bolt down.. may need to Helicoil or nutsert the intercooler

 

If you’re going the helicoil route for the intercooler lid m6x1.0 is the flavor you’re looking for
