No problem at all. IMO, the measurement of 5/8" from the T-rail to the over hanging lip(see below) is the important one so the over hanging lip butts up against whatever support you put there. I think the T-rail is 1" wide from the front bed wall to the edge. So if you install a support on top of the T-rail extending to the over hanging lip it needs to be 1-5/8" wide. I have just a 1/16" of play it seems so if you went 1-3/4" I think you will be ok. Remember, this is all based on how my camper was installed. So if you're close to this it seems you should be ok.

Just so I am clear, the 3/4" x 2" wide bar stock will sit on top of the truck bed wall (near cab) and extend to the rear (towards tailgate) or on top of the T-rail? Am I seeing this right? Maybe sketch something up.

perfect thank you. that's what I was wondering.

and yes.. you have that right.. the 3/4" x 2" (now going to be 2-3/4" wide) bar will be on the truck bed wall near cab.

working on a quick sketch now. Work is too busy... even though I have all the necessary software and can make a nice model.. a basic hand drawn sketch is always easier. lol

That's what I thought. should work. Run it by Spence/Peter and Josh to make sure.

I've tried... 3 times. I've sent emails from home and work with screenshots and sketches. I know they're busy just like me (thats why its hard for me to call, plus its loud in the shop).. but its crunch time now. We leave Saturday morning. I'll try and call later today.

Agree! If everything is level, top of the side rails to the front rail, seems like it's a sound idea and will work.

That's my thinking. I'll add 3M and or Butyl tape in the small gaps that will inherently be there after the fact... to help secure and seal. Between that and the solid bar.. it should help to make a nice seal for sure.

For anyone who does winter or rainy weather camping, i just picked up one of these bad boys:
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B087YTM19N?ie=UTF8

Relatively low draw (under 2amp) and seems to be doing a decent job of sucking out moisture when parked. Might be worth considering too if you have any water ingress issues.

Are you still using a fan in the tent?
I cant find the link. I need one for upcoming trip in grand canyon/utah area to reduce condensation.

We've always just used a small 12v/usb fan in our tents over the years. definitely helps some.. but I like that little dehumidifier..

Yea, I don't think I'll run it while I'll camp as I presume having the tent up would still let a fair bit of damp air in, but it will be used for when I get home in case i can't get everything popped and dried out.

Wouldn't plumbing a heater inside the R1T make the condensation even more of a nightmare?

Depends on the heater. If you're using something like a Mr. Buddy, then yes, because it's a catalytic heater which creates moisture as a byproduct. With a heater like my Dickinson, a propex, or a diesel heater (all three have external exhaust vents), then no, as any moisture byproduct is vented outside of the camper.

Another factor to consider- with vented heaters (Webasto/Propex/etc) the risk of CO poisoning is extremely low from the heater itself as it heats and vents the air. You need to make sure there’s adequate ventilation when using the Mr Buddy

yup - it's always important to have a CO detector, but thats correct you should be running the mr buddy with something vented to allow for air circulation.

lol. I know the deal with venting and CO, etc. with the Propane heaters.. but our old school Mr Buddy (before it was Mr Buddy) has been a life saver multiple trips. yes its not ideal and can cause some condensation, but pre heating our RTT before getting in was awesome, and on below freezing nights, even in our 0 degree bag, it worked to keep us warm in the tent. I just had to be diligent of its placement and keep an eye on it. I'm excited to use it in the X1.. especially now that there is more room and areas to place it safely. I'm even interested to try it in the bed and let the heat rise.
I just cant justify the whole diesel heater operation/package.

I've never used a heater, and never planned on it until recently. I've done plenty of cold camping and usually call it a night when it gets cold and hide in my sleeping bag. Never been an issue.
I just got a free mr buddy heater and my GF is coming on a week long Thanks Giving trip through N Grand Canyon, Utah, Nevada etc. So I figure why not try it out. My plan is what you have mentioned.
Let it sit in my bed and radiate heat upwards. Going to open the vents and get a CO2 monitor. I have a feeling I'll get annoyed with using it and prob just ditch it after the trip. TBD
