what brand of lights did you purchase?

 

I've installed 48 of these throughout my condo & nothing but good things to say. The only flicker I get is due to how 2 of the circuits are wired (sharing a neutral).

Anybody try PPG Floetrol to reduce brush marks in semigloss whitish door jambs? Thinking to experiment with it.

 

I have a friend that paints for a living and he swears by it since the paint has changed over the years for all the environmental goodness BS...

 

I still can't wrap my head around a cordless chopsaw unless you are moving rooms constantly or do lots of tiny jobs

 

Worth just the hassle of not dealing with extension cords.

 

My corded is heavy and bulky - many times building outdoors if I haul the thing, it's the only tool I have to run a cord for.

 

I guess in my case we set up a cutting station that may stay in the same spot for months

Question for you! Can these be used where you have existing cans in place? In other words -what do you do with the control box thing?

 

Negative, the spring loaded tabs won't grab onto the inner wall of the can, these only mount onto a flat/bare ceiling with a 6.x" hole in it. In my kitchen there were some old janky LEDs in some old construction cans that were like no cans I've seen before (pause for the 'cans' joke). I couldn't find any replacement lights to fit them so I used my Dremel as a router & cut them out to start fresh for these lights. If you want or need to keep the cans you have up there then what you want to search for are called retrofit can lights. First example I could find, I'm not vouching for these

You'll notice how they have different "arms" that latch onto the inside of the cans. And they also have an adapter to screw into a light socket base.

As for the control box (ballast), since these don't mount in a can you just screw the ballast into a nearby joist or set it on the ceiling (code varies by municipality). These are rated for constant insulation contact, so fire is not a concern.

 

They're good for industrial construction and I also sell them to a company that makes modular homes.

 

New blade for the 10" sliding miter saw.

 

Had one and never did like the saw for finish work. The saw blade and fence can be adjusted along with the laser light. But I found that I could never get the saw to adjust "spot-on" for finish work, so I continue to use my trusty old Makita for finish work. I just use the Kobalt for rough framing and leave the crown, base, and case to my old Makita.

 

The Freud Industrial blades are nice . Any reason you went with tgat particular blade over the sliding compound mitre blade ?

 

I didn't come across a sliding compound miter blade in my search for a new full kerf blade.
