Short workout hike in Sabino Canyon (Tucson, AZ) this morning. Cloudy morning and some colors we don't often see.

Drove up the middle fork Snoqualmie river trying to get out from under the dense fog down at sea level. Found some sun but it was still chilly in the valley. This area between Garfield Mt and Russian Butte always traps colder air, it's nickname is Little Siberia

crossed these about 200 yards from the truck, most likely cougar, probably too big for bobcat

Nice pics. Hard to tell from the pic what those tracks are. I’m not seeing 4 toes which cougar and bobcat have and most every other North American mammal has. And no claw marks. My bet is you are correct that they are cougar tracks. But the quality of the pic on my iPad isn’t that great. Anyway very cool seeing those tracks on your hike. Thanks for sharing.

Looks like canine tracks to me but I'm no expert. See how the forward part of the heel pad almost comes to a point with one lobe, like a rounded triangle? Cat tracks have a more trapezoidal heel pad.

Still cool though if it's canine. In fact, I'm pretty sure I saw a wolf run across the road in front of my headlights a couple weeks ago. It was either a wolf or a mutant coyote because it was pretty damn big.

From January. Old plane wreckage on the Butterfly Trail in the Santa Catalinas.

    20220109_111209.jpg

And some ice flow. We had microspikes on the whole trip.

From today (February), up on Mount Guthrie also in the Santa Catalinas.

Awesome pics as always. I live vicariously in the outdoors through your pics. Been an outdoorsman all my life but age and back problems have significantly limited and slowed me down. Thanks for sharing.
