It has a different feel then the factory clutch for sure. It's a lil more jumper the it ever was. I've had my truck since new 253miles

From 4.88 to 5.29 you're only talking a couple hundred rpm. Only noticeable on the highway imo.

Or off road when you're loaded AF, or hell even in town when you have to put her in 4lo on a summer's day just to make it up the hill

    BC 2020 Trip continued

we left Sandon and bounced around to every obscure campsite we could find on the map. some were no longer there, others we too bug infested, to the point where even the dogs wouldn't get out of the truck. Others had been converted from user maintain sites to BC parks sites which are all pay and basically if you don't reserve a spot at the beginning of the year you're SOL, which is BS cause its public land but anyways, after about 10 hours on the road we finally found some lakes that had promise. It was a 3 lake chain just outside the town of Nakusp, I stopped at the first lake a secured a wicked spot while Cody bombed ahead, and we used the vhf to keep in touch. we both have 50watt units so we've got some range. anyways 30 minutes later he makes it to the 3rd lake which we forget the name of but has been renamed titty lake cause there were titties and beer.. lol.. dying for a beer and hot from the +40c weather, I made the 30 min drive in 15minutes lol... I parked the truck and dove in the lake off the logs, fuck was it good.

We spent a couple days here mostly to escape the onslaught of fake ass overlanders and covid campers. some cruiser guys showed up, about 10 beers deep on day too, the girls they brought and our ladies got along very well that tequila came out then the titties hence why we changed the name of the lake. we did finally leave though, went into town, it was here I started looking for a new battery as I thought that was the problem, turned out to be the alternator would only charge at 3k rpm, we took the Kootenay lake ferry and went to what was supposed to be a beautiful campsite, but it was full of travel trailer dick heads and ticks fell from the trees constantly, but we were too tired to move on so we stayed a night and then the next day went in search of a new spot

    IMG_20200730_143944_689d90cdc87de451fad75946bdaa5b2c6a817f25.jpg
literally the only pic I took, this was supposed to be a campsite but the lake had been turned into reservoir and the camping was prohibited, the next lake two hours up the road was at one point huge but the government at some point demolished the dam, and drained the lake so another bust. we decided to risk wandering south being a long weekend during covid times we just hoped we could find a nice spot.

we went into Revelstoke let the girls hit the souvenir shops while we headed off to a parts store to get a new battery I found one that worked with some fuckery, apparently taco batteries aren't commonly stocked for some reason. we headed south because north was Rogers pass and there was no way my truck would make 30 minutes in 3rd gear uphill without overheating. we found a turn off and just cruised along the FSR.

we found ourselves a nice little lake totally abandoned probably cause it took some 4lo action to get there but that was fine by us

oh look my battery is dead again. here is where I suspected something else might be wrong.

continuing south we made it just outside Lake country, we popped into town to resupply and then hit the FSR in search of more lakes. After a day of driving around and hitting some local trails, a dirt biker told us about this beauty spot which I will not name cause a beauty it was

we carried on south, stopping off at another fire tower on our way to a buddies shop to say hi and to finally diagnose the taco.

we made it to Logan Lake without incident, parked the trucks at my buddies shop immediately cracked some cold ones, and passed em out to some of his customers lol. figured out what was wrong with the truck, tried to order a new alt, turns out there were none available in North America. So we decided to have a huge bbq camp at the shop for the night and head home in the morning, we put a trickle charger on the truck and ran an extension cord for the fridge to keep those beers cold, and that was it that was camping in covid times

    Yay I did things!!!

So I'm balls deep in house renovations but I took a break today from that, and turned some wrenches on the Tacoma. Installed the new Denso alternator I ordered in September 2020, I also warrantied the battery I bought on the summer trip because it had been jumped so many times I now wouldn't hold a charge. Truck fired up first crank and ran perfectly, which is great considering I believe the last time it started was before Christmas. I did notice the oil filter sandwich is leaking a bunch. Truck is actually down almost a liter of oil. So I'm gonna yank it and the gauges. I've had a ton of issues getting them to work and the pillar pod to fit right, so back to stock and just checked the oil a lot. The oil pressure gauge will see life again on the 80 series, as I have boost and pyro gauges to be installed on it as well. The original alt is gonna get sent out to be rebuilt so I'll have a spare

LCE clutch and flywheel update - I've put about 15k miles on it and love it. It moved by shift point up about 300 rpm so I can't short shift it anymore and dog it around, but given the fact that the new flywheel is like 2x as heavy as stock I'm not surprised. It's an impressive slab of steel. Once I put 35's on and re-gear it'll probably be happier.
The clutch isn't any heavier/stiffer than stock and is super buttery. No ragrets.

It's a good clutch I'm still happy with it about 30k km later. Hoping to roll the truck out of the shop at the end of the month once I fix up a couple more issues. Maybe actually do something :boink:

It's been a wild 6months here, but I finally found some koyo bearing complete hubs so no more china hubs lol, I might even daily drive it. Give the 80 series a break while I do some fun things to it

Didn't think they would be that hard to source. I've been running a Dorman hub assembly on the passenger side and so far so good :anonymous:

Lots of China hubs floating around I destroyed one trying to get the arp studs into it, and because Canada everything is super difficult right now, but it's looking up. I've been slowly stocking parts for the HDJ81 and the Tacoma. Hoping to be back to my regularly scheduled programming soon

Sooooo I've literally done nothing since April, just living that dad life....

I did take the Tacoma out for a jaunt this past weekend and grenaded the rear right arp studs, along with one of the method's, luckily the drum caught the tire so there wasn't too much damage, did a roadside fix with new wheel studs, which is when I found out 3 of the stud holes were oblonged. I put the spare steelie on and made the 250km drive home. The studs held for the drive I did stop to check them a coupe times.

The 80 series has been sitting in the shop
I did score a 3" ss full exhaust for it, and the wife bought me a prinsu rack along with an arb compressor for my birthday to add to the 80.

I don't have any pics right now because I'm trying to find a new image host, I was using photobucket but they changed and now want me to pay for a subscription to access the photos I already uploaded so ya super awesome. You will find the current photos on my Instagram @4cyl4lowlife
