I've been following this thread but it mostly got taken over by a MDT ACC chassis pricing snafu. It's back to being a BF deal sharing thread for the most part.

Sadly, in WA state they outlawed polymer lowers (undetectable) but 80% lowers (untraceable) are still legal...for a while. Ridiculous hype over "ev'ryone gonna 3D print pistols and shoot us all!!11!!1!!!"...

    @memario1214

Can you give a recommendation on Pro vs. Max SS3's in selective yellow, fog pattern? I just ordered OEM Toyota Pro LED Headlights today and want do ss3's while the sale is still on with Hotshotoffroad/Diode Dynamics. I've read the fog light thread from @crashnburn80 and really like the yellow pro's with the option of white lenses, but the Max's cleaner cutoff with brighter intensity is certainly appealing.

Some have mentioned the Max's were too bright? :notsure:

Anyone have a link for color comparison on those CH4x4 switches that are 30% off?

I'm curious how bright they are, like if they illuminate the whole cab etc

Sure! So I'll start with the lens swapping question since you had reference that being something that you might want to do at some point in time. The yellow and white versions of the lights in pro and sport power levels come with different color LEDs (all Max power SS3s have 6000k LEDs). So if you just swap lenses you're going to get varying results:

Start with White Light (6000k LED):
Swap with different pattern clear lens - Maintain the 6000k output color
Swap in a yellow lens - Produces a "lime green" color. I can't really put a Kelvin color temp on it, but it's definitely not an ideal output. The only way to possibly get the proper output would be to use the darker yellow lens that DD puts on the Max version of the lights. They don't even list it, but they may sell you them. You'll be dealing with reduced output though.

Start with Yellow Light (4000k LED):
Swap with a clear lens - Produces a 4000k output color. I call it a "buttery" white and I really like the color.
Swap in a different yellow lens - Maintains the 3000k color temperature

As for the cutoff and intensity questions there's no perfect answer here, but I do have some thoughts. I personally like the sharper cutoff of the max/sport over the pros. However, I have heard from some folks that they find the sharper cutoff "distracting". When driving on the road you're not going to see a cutoff like you would see if you had a projector retrofit headlight setup for example. The fog lights aren't nearly that sharp, and they shouldn't be.

I have had max yellow fogs on my lifted Tundra now for about a year, run them pretty much all of the time, and I have been flashed only twice that I can recall. The lights are properly aimed, and thanks to the proper fog light cutoffs folks will be able to tell that they're on, but won't be getting their retinas scorched. Aiming on these is everything. Aim them too high and the intensity of these lights will absolutely be distracting to folks!

I know that was a long way around not answering your question... You seriously can't go wrong with either.

Here is my suggestion for lighting - Get the most expensive lights, they are more betterer :anonymous:

It's not the price difference at this point. I mean OEM LED headlights aren't exactly cheap even when they're on sale. It's more of concern that the max's might be too much for my needs. I like the versatility of the 4000k hue on the pros with white lenses or leaving them selective yellow, but the likelihood of me swapping out lenses on a regular basis is probably slim. I'd get more use out of selective yellow anyway.

I'm leaning toward Max's at this point, but I could almost flip a coin over the two.

Or do what Matt does... BIGGEST. BADDEST. ALWAYS.
I can literally hear it in our voice so I'll just say it for you... Buy the Maxes. You'll never be wondering "what if". Aim them properly and John Q public won't want to have your head either.
