Official 2021 NCAA Football Thread

It just looks more old school to me.

 

The playoff was a good start, but it needs improvement. Make it a real playoff! Take the opinion of the committee out of the final decision on who gets the championship. Make the teams earn it. You want to be the best you have to beat the best.

 

Idk about y’all but I’m happy for coach O to go out with a W. Not a coach in history that loves a school as much as he seemed to love LSU. Good for him.

 

Big LOL if they’re actually chasing Jimbo, who is absolutely not an improvement over Coach O.

 

In my opinion, the current playoff is worse than the BCS. It’s been fairly clear over the last few years who the 1-2 teams were, but 3-4 have been mixed results. I like the idea of an 8-team playoff with the 1-2 getting byes. Someone posted a mock-up of it here a while back.

 

I don’t believe they are but nobody has seen anything but rumors on the matter. Who knows till they announce it

 

Lincoln Riley says he’s not going to LSU. Best decision he could have made IMO.

 

Yep, definitely not what I was expecting given Auburn's performances on both sides of the ball all season. Can't wait for Shreveport or whatever lol.

 

I believe that was a 12 team playoff with 1-4 getting byes. It's definitely better than what we currently have but I'm not a fan of bye weeks at all, but especially not in the playoffs. But that's my personal opinion.

 

We may need a larger playoff grouping dependent on where a 4 lose Iowa State ranks. They do beat a top 5 team on occasions so.

What an incredible football Saturday. Even though my aggies lost to lsu. Damn it. Another “next year will be better” mantra is coming, I think. Best one for me was bama and auburn. Edge of my seat with the 4OTs. What a game. Took a while for bama to wake up for sure. And watching ou vs osu beat up on each other was icing on the cake. Y’all have a good one.

 

It seems the goal, as some here have suggested, is to have an expanded playoffs to stop Alabama but an expanded playoff would ensure a two loss Tide would get in.

Alabama's 2021 squad isn't the dominating team of last year and it's even harder when every team they play can make a 500 season a great year if they can just beat Bama. Every team on their schedule marks the calender and gives everything they got when playing Alabama. The Tide has to overcome that every game, sometimes they don't.

Most of Alabama's titles in recent years have included a regular season loss, last year was an exception.

Alabama has many players injuried, still finds a way to win and ugly wins still count.

I don't expect them to beat Georgia but something tells me many won't be happy with Georgia winning the title, after all they are a SEC team.

Maybe Alabama was giving it against everyone lesser than them to make it look like they wouldn’t almost lose to a few .500~ teams?

 

It means more to beat Alabama than any other team in the country regardless of how the seasons are going. Doesn’t mean Alabama is the best or not, just reputation. Everyone wants that upset and I think everyone gives it their all when they play Bama.

Auburn’s national championship was last night. They get to go every year. It’s the only game they have to win. They can lose every other game they play, but if they win that one they are national champions in their eyes. Bama thinks bigger.

 

Even Nick Saban said this was stupid a week ago. Everyone gets up for every game. The idea that Auburn or LSU were going to lay flat because they weren’t going to the SECCG is such a silly counter to the “bUt We gEt tHeIr bEsT cUz SeC iS dIfFeRrEnT” argument.

Maybe Alabama just isn’t as good. MAYBE.

 

A two loss season for Alabama is a bad year, most would celebrate an 11-2 season.

The SEC is different, in a championship way.

Playoff expansion sounds awful. Why play the regular season if you can make it with 3-4 losses? Just let everyone in. Participation trophies for all!!!

6-8 you barely include the occasional 2 loss team. It makes sense. You know what doesn’t? 4.
