Damn just got home and saw this. I’m in Irvine and was in Mojave last night coming back from the week long Utah trip.

 

Spent another 7 nights in the camper doing 1800 mile trip to Utah. Did about 4-6 hours of trail per day for 5 days and two days of highway.
Camper was as good. I got a couple reoccurring issues and a new one. I’m in discussion with the SP team though and find feedback through email is most appropriate.
Just like anything though, dust and corrugation will beat down an item.
If you’re not doing 30-50mph on 100+ miles of poorly maintained roads then you won’t see any issues related to that abuse.

Overall the camper was amazing. We had some nights in the teens (18F) and if you pop up the vents , 0 condensation. I fricking love the vents!!

Do you air down on those poorly maintained roads for comfort? I do it all the time. Helps out a lot especially through washboards

Made it home with the X1, 3k miles on the nose (2999 to be exact). I'll post some pics and updates a little later, but.. initial impressions are we love it, no regrets, and 100% justified. We're already looking forward to the next outing to use it and dial it in more.

Sprayed off all the mud, sand and grime from the trip and that's when I noticed some water intrusion. Mostly from the bed/tailgate corners as my bed has split over time and has a large gap on the passenger side. I see some water get inside the seams of the doors and then drip on you when you open them up.. an annoyance really. Dust intrusion was from the same areas mostly and hardly noticeable. We love the storage and minimal dust now compared to our previous bed bars/RTT setup. It can only get better as well when I start adding some Bulb seal in key areas. I did also spray out the inside/bed with the hose as well to get all the dust, pine needles, etc out. I love the versatility.. especially with my plan to keep everything simple and modular so I can do stuff like spray it all out when needed.

 

Hey bro. It worked very well. We saw a few nights in the teens (Fahrenheit) and we’re glad to have it. I was fine in my bag and layers but the gf really liked being more comfortable with less layers, less confined to being zipped up to the head in a bag , etc you get the point. It was a very nice to have.
I found that the low setting was too high at times. If it could go lower it would be even better IMO. I had it connected to a bbq 20lb style propane and ran it for I would say more than 40 hours during the 7 days. I can’t tell how much is left (no pressure gauge ). Ideally you would insulate the X1 fuselage but honestly that might make the camper too hot. I had a mental dilemma cus a lot of the heat is used to heat up the fuselage but then again the buddy heater puts off a lot.

The image shows for reference how cold it was. My water port head in the morning after sitting for 3-5min. Froze lol

I've been having more road noise ever since I removed the rear passenger side seat and replaced with platform. So I pulled everything out yesterday and installed sound deadening matting. Haven't driven with that yet, hopefully it makes a difference. Covering the back and the floor below the seat used about half the material in the box.

Has anyone installed this in footwells or elsewhere?

 

If what you installed is that thick tin foil with a sticky backing, you are on the right track. Beyond sticking it to about 50% of large flat surfaces, it isn't doing any good. The next layer you need is the high density vinyl that you stick to vertical surfaces with industrial Velcro. Both products help. I removed my entire exterior and did a full sound deadening treatment when I first bought my taco. It helped a lot, but is never going to sound like a Lexus.

I have it everywhere but the for most front since I would have to remove all. It def helps. I added the foam on top. Did all floors and roof. I’d say it’s still noticeable but not as bad. I have half seat removed and that generated a a bunch. I still need to put my interior back in so I’m sore it will get better. Driveling on freeway at 70mph it’s around 70-75db. ( downloaded a feee app ) seems noise and tested it in out Tesla which is not the quietest and registered only slightly lower.

 

Also make sure you till all of the sound deadening to make sure it’s contacting it. I still see a bunch of the triangle pattern so not sure if you did or not. Should look smoother after applied.

 

I actually went over it all again after I took that pic. You can still see the diamond pattern just like in the pic, but it's rolled flat on the flat areas. The corrugation in the sheet metal and all the random indentations don't help. I couldn't get it super flat around those areas.

 

Yah it’s a bit of a pain. I ended up buying a roller set that had a thin roller, normal and a fat one. The small one helped work those areas. But sound like your good. Seem alot of people skip that step and wonder why it’s so so.

 

I'm a few weeks from getting the call to go pickup and install my X1 but having some financial challenges so looking for someone who might want to purchase prior to pickup. I have a 2019 DCLB. Here's my lighting solution for now, until the dual battery/solar is done. Parts are shipped though! We've been running these string lights for years now, and wanted to keep using them for the new setup. We plan to get another set for inside the tent as well. For now they light up the camper nicely, are dimmable, and are just hooked up to a little battery pack for daily use, if needed. When we camp they are normally plugged into our power pack. For the everyday use of the doors though, I stuck on some tap lights on each door, but also have the string lights if needed. We have just a little tent light for up in the tent for now that I leave up on one of the trays. Which.. the new trays are awesome. So many uses being Molle panels. I have our little single burner bungied underneath for quick access while up in the tent for coffee in the mornings.

I also sealed up the tailgate pretty good imo. I'll get pics later. It's not pretty up where it meets the X1.. but it works.
