TRD Pro Rim Questions

I know there a few threads touching on the subject of rims and these rims in particular but ultimately this is a bit time sensitive. I was going to purchase some new tires for my 2017 TRD Sport (still riding on the stock tires) and I wanted to upgrade to the

$1,025 PTR2035110BK Genuine Toyota 4Runner TRD PRO Matte Black Wheels PTR20-35110-BK (Fits: 4Runner - Tacoma - FJ Cruiser) (4)

PTR2035110BK's. I know these are 17"s but are listed as 4runner rims. Would it be as easy as just buying them and bringing them to the place I purchase my tires from and they can just pop them on or do I need to modify anything? And do I have to stick with the 265/65 R17 tires or can I get something different? No lift kit or anything btw. And I know these are all pretty basic questions but I don't want to drop a bunch of cash unless I know everything will be perfecto. Also really wanted the Continental Terraincontact A/T tires but they don't have 265/65 R17 (they do have a 265/70R17 115S though)

 

Yep the wheels should fit just fine no modifications needed

 

I just ordered a set in gloss gunmetal grey with the sales over the weekend. Parts guys at my dealer and the dealer I ordered from online (saved a good chunck of $$ getting them somewhere other than my dealer) both said they should be fine. Same situation as you, all stock truck, but I'm not changing tires until the OEM Toyos wear out. On a bone stock Sport I would be hesitant about going any bigger than 265/70R17. Just FYI, be aware you are going from a +30 to a +4 offset.

Shop around online but this Olathe Toyota (https://www.olathetoyota.com/) usually has some pretty good prices. Some people on here got them from BAM (https://www.*****************.com/o...__rDYEcxsdSdPoXp_odcLg9S88rsqrwhoCOUQQAvD_BwE) When I got mine I shopped around online and then was able to get my local dealer to match the price. It saved me the shipping costs and I picked them up the next day.

 

I have a set on order from Serra Toyota of Decatur that I ordered last weekend during the black friday sale. 4 TRD pro wheels in gloss gunmetal were $724 OTD.

 

BAM wholesale is usually the way to go. Their website is blacklisted on TacomaWorld and I don’t know why.

 

About to order the same rims to replace my 16” off road rims. Reason being is I have a 2” lift with 265/75/16. They just look a bit small and unfortunately my only option on the next size up is 285/75/16 E rated tires. I Love the look of the gunmetal 4Runner TRD and 17s allow me to go with C rated 275/70/17, a perfect in between that shouldn't kill my performance but look balanced.

 

Will definitely look sweeeeeet

 

Mine sitting on 265/70/17 KO2s (LR C). They fit perfectly and I can retain the flaps

 

After a lot of research I ordered those from a local dealer for a good price, picked them up, then I took them over to my tire guy and switched the stock tires off the sport wheels and put them on the TRD Pros. No problems and they look great on my 2021 Sport.

 

What did you or are you going to do with your old rims once the new ones are installed?

 

These and new tires are going to be my first most significant mod to my truck. The matte black look so clean! Will going from a 16” wheel to the 17” affect the speedometer greatly?

 

The size of your wheel has nothing to do with your speedometer, the diameter of the tire does.

 

@JIgawatts I'm doing exactly the same with the gunmetal grey version. Did you switch the OEM TMPS sensors to the new pro wheels or get new sensors?

 

I sold mine on Facebook market place.

 

The guys at the tire shop switched the originals to the new wheels. Just be aware, it took a little bit of driving for them to work correctly.

I really don't remember. I think when I drove home (maybe 10 miles) it was saying 0 for all four tires, but everything was working fine the next day.

 

I worked at a tire shop and when we’d switch out tpms sensors we told our customers they would reset after they drove 20-50miles if their vehicle didn’t have a tpms reset button.
